I am the sort of person is more into the funk, dance, R&B and pop music, and I have never really though about purchasing an Album of the Police until I bought the very best album... I have heard about the three piece group before, and i had know about several of their major hits, such as Englishman in NY, Every breth you take and Roxanne - and thats all i knew!! Thankfully these songs are all featured on the album, but I didn't realise that the group produced so many great hits!! Who'd have thought that the son of a CIA agent, a Geordie primary school teacher and a Lancastrian jazz fanatic would go on to be so successful together? It's June of 1977 before the magical mixture is brewed, even though there is an extra ingredient with Henry Padovani on guitar, and for two sessions, the Police play as a quartet. The distinctive sound that will later identify the band before they've opened their mouths is evolving with Summer's echoy guitar and Copeland's version of a reggae beat.
