The Presidents of the United States. Three guys, a guitar, bass (both with various strings missing!?!), drums and one surreal sense of humour. Short and snappy songs about chickens, peaches and various other strange subjects. Makes a change from love though doesn’t it? I have to admit I know nothing about the band members themselves, but I do know this album makes me smile. As bizarre as it is, I’ll attempt to describe it. Kitty Grown men meowing like cats? Yep, it’s the intro to ‘Kitty’, a little indie/rock ditty about a cat coming in from the cold. Having “Kitty on my foot and I want to touch it” confusing your ... Read the complete review

Having now been a member of Dooyoo for 2 weeks I was looking back and realised how utterly appalling this op is. So I decided to come back and update it so that people can see how as a person 2 weeks has changed me. I'm a punk/hiphop/rock/indie/RnB and most other stuff kinda guy so anything with a nice beat with some decent riffs and a rhyme is good by my standards. The President of the United Stated of America however blew me away. Their self-titled album was the best I'd heard in a while. For me it rates with the Gorillaz's album as one of my all time favourite albums. Right from the start they kick in with their unique style. A Particular ... Read the complete review

When I first heard of the band - The Presidents Of The United States Of America (PUSA), I was curious. I put their first album into my cd player half expecting a Bill Clinton, John F Kennedy, George Washington medley, but was pleasantly surprised by their individual, rock style. After careful listening for a minute I realised this was not a band to be taken at face value as their lyrics were comical and at times very surreal. The lead singer has a very unique voice with a very American edge, which makes you want to get up and mosh around screaming along with the up beat vocals. I now am a big fan and currently own two of their albums: their self entitled album, ... Read the complete review

Now, it might just be because I hate their music (cos god knows I do..) but popstars (in general, not hear'say (speaking of which, what the hell is the apostrophe for..)) always seem to take themselves ridiculously seriously. They (seem to) think that their pathetic little warblings really make the world a better place. Craig David is a great example- although personally I don't see how he can posibbly be as bad as the media (including HIS adverts and videos) make out. Anyway you see my point- even the bands that I really love, I wouldn't say they changed the world. Or, for that matter, most of the time they have no influence on my life at all. And PUSA is ... I don't claim to be the best music guru out there, but it doesn't take a genius to realize that this album kicks ass. Love Delicatessen is a fantastically brilliant track and I can?t think of any better on this album to get the ball rolling, and number two, Video Killed The Radio Star has to be one of the best songs ever written, did the president write it? I don?t think so, but I don?t know who did, so anyone who knows, feel free to tell me and I?ll add it to this opinion. Back porch and Lump have to be two of my favorite songs these guys have ever done, and the live recordings (especially of Lump) really rock. That's all I have to say about the ...
