I am writing this op without relying on my spellcheck or anything else other than my immense admiration of those crazy cats PULP. I first came across Jarvis and co , in the twilight hours. I was studying for my GCSE's while watching the television. Lo and behold I saw a skinny type of character singing about wanting someone to be his girlfriend.. to give them babies. And I closed the books and thought what a lovely concept. PULP were not a new band. They have been around since the late 1970's . Jarvis got the name Pulp Arabucus from an economics textbook. Pulp have been around in one form or another since 1978 believe it or not when Jarvis Cocker was a 15-year-old schoolboy. He decided to start a group, as he always daydreamed about being in one. The name of the group he called Arabacus Pulp. Later the first word was dropped. Through the years the Pulp line-up has changed numerous times. The only consistent feature being the familiar waif like figure know as Jarvis Cocker. Pulp’s first record came out in 1983! I have always liked Jarvis Cocker. Whatever anyone may say, I think he’s quite cool, and he deserves respect forever for shaking his arse at Michael Jackson at the Brits. I have been a fan of Pulp for a while, but have never liked them quite enough to buy any of their albums. I have, howwever, repeatedly borrowed many of their efforts from friends of mine who are more committed to Pulp fandom. Pulp are unique, and I think their not inconsiderable talent is quite evident throughout their many releases.
