Sister Sledge in General: ... all know Sister Sledge...... a sweet and harmonious all-girl Disco band who were big in the late 70's. Sledge had been going since 1973, and it was just as the 70's ended and the 80's began that this album really catapulted them to mainstream recognition. To this day it is considered their best piece of work. The group shared the same musical producer as Chic, Nile Rogers, who had a wonderful sense of ...

BabyGirl%2A Aaliyah in General
... was a singer, dancer and actress who was very famous in America and only just making a big impact on the UK. She had so much to look forward to, as it seemed she was going to be even more famous than she already was. Unfortunately Aaliyah was killed in a plane crash whilst returning from a video shoot in the Bahamas. Nine people were killed altogether. The crash was thought to have been caused by engine failure. Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born January 16th 1979 in Brooklyn New York. Her name means ‘highest, most exalted one” in Arabic. Many say her name is Swahili but it is a Muslim name, and Aaliyah herself explained her parents found the name fro...

jaguar65 Jagged Edge in General
... Edge have been round a while, but recently I aquired lots of their stuff, including some work they have done with Run DMC! Their stuff sounds very cool, smooth R&B/Soul or often they'll be accompanied by someone like Nas or Ludacris and their stuff becomes much more rap orientated. It is this adaptability that I particularly like about them as it leaves a range of sounds within the genre. It will be difficult to obtain some of the older stuff of course, HMV will probably have some, but you'll have to go searching through their CD hoard etc but if you can find it, a lot of it is excellent. On the other hand, some of there stuff takes R&B to the limit (for m...

Sugar+Matty+O Eve in general
... REVUE: EVE – ‘Eve-olution’ – Ruff Ryder Records 2002 Ruff Ryders’ first lady shouldn’t really need to do too much more to promote the follow-up to First Lady and Scorpion. The smaller matter of running amok across music television screens worldwide with Gwen Stefani this year should already have bagged her a whole new fanbase, and coining her with a complete package tag doesn’t come without merit. She looks good, she can hold a verse, she’s got the swagger to go with her grammar, can pick out a crowd-pleasing sidekick to assist her and knows how to cross the rap-pop border. Plus she can have...
