Advantages: Sure aural pleasure

Disadvantages: None whatsoever

There is nothing around that compares to the feeling the first time I heard 'Creep'. It was a feeling of belonging and a feeling of curiousity for a sound that I hadn't heard before. From that, came a rush round the shops the following morning to find 'Pablo Honey', the first and I think, very underated album. Other songs on the album, such as 'Stop Whispering' and 'Ripcord' are excellent tunes.

Later came 'The Bends'; a rip-snorter of an album. Every song was different and had a distinct meaning and mood that made the album so different from the Oasis/Blur dross that was around at the time. Tracks like 'Just', 'Planet Telex' and 'Street Spirit (fade out)' are so diametrically opposed to each other in the way that they are written yet combine like the best flavours in a meal at the Ivy.

'OK Computer' continued the standard while, for me, all around were either producing albums of lesser quality (Oasis for one) or listening to the pop explosion (Spice Girls/BoyZone and all the other pre-pubescents). Listen to 'Karma Police' or 'No Surprises' and feel the tingle going down your spine. Others like Coldplay and to a certain extent, Toploader, have copied the Radiohead sound to great effect but there is nothing like the original.

I cannot wait for October 2.

Cheers,

Thank you for listening.
