Advantages: Cheeky
Disadvantages: Can appear arrogant
I for one never really know what to make of little old Robbie. When he first left‘Take That’ all those years ago (doesn’t it seem like yesterday!) he inspired sympathy in the heart of the nation as he battled against his ex-manager and the whole manufactured boy-band thing. As he dusted himself off and got back on his feet we watched in admiration as he showed the world that he could make it on his own. Then there was the string of girlfriends. Robbie had become a babe-magnet and any semi-famous female could instantly appear in the limelight if she was photographed out on the town with him. After Robbie’s huge hit with Angels the world became his oyster, he had well and truly proved himself.
Up until this point I always warmed to Robbie’s cheeky comments when being interviewed, although the huge chip that he obviously still carried on his shoulder was beginning to get a little annoying. Now well in to his solo career something about this cheeky, naughty, I’ll beat up Liam approach has begun to lose its appeal. When watching him interviewed now I can’t help thinking he is verging on being arrogant. He’s made it, and he knows it, maybe that’s the cause? Maybe it’s part of Robbie’s appeal, that we never really know what to make of him, that one minute we should love him and the next be offended by him. As for me, well I’ll take his cheekiness to be genuine and his arrogance to be an act and give him the benefit of the doubt…………for now.
