Scooch [Background: Steps wannabes and all-round pop tarts Scooch were yet another fleeting shooting star in the fickle business we know as 'pop'] You know how it is. You've already proved yourself as one of the most successful producers and writers of the 1980s, with over 150 hit singles already in your impressive portfolio, but you feel that now, in the noughties, there's still some mileage left in your tank. You 'discover' two pretty young girls and a couple of good looking guys who can sing and dance (a bit) and set off on the difficult ascent of the pop ladder, with a view to producing the next big thing. Sickening. Very sickening. Yet another manufactured band that is produced to extract pocket money from over payed teens, who have yet to develope taste. Hmmm.. Steps? Not too much modelled on the talentless five, and would you believe it, they made it worse! I cant wait until they finally slip into obscurity. Sooner the better, and I hope that this opinion sticks in your mind longer than their mind-numbing annoying pants that they are brave enough to put their names to and call music. I really thought their was a limit as to how far people would go to whore themselves to the public, but I am sooooo wrong. Mark my words - two years from now, no-one will say ... These four nobodys are going to remain exactly that!!!! They have absolutley ripped off Steps to a tee!!!! There dances are almost copies of those which Steps do!!! Ok the blonde girl is pretty good looking, but the other one looks about 30!!!!! "For Sure" they are just taking the p**s!!! I've nothing against manufactured groups!!! SClub are excellent, so are Steps and the Spice Girls are legends!!! But come on, a manufactured group as to have something different than the others!! and one person less just doesn't do it!!! So come on Scooch (what a crap name for a group) call it a day and change the ... Read the complete review

It's so easy dismiss Scooch. The obvious similarities with Steps leave them open to allegations of plagiarism and every insult that's ever been thrown at a teen band can be hurled at these poor popettes. But, hey, I actually quite like them. Or should I say 'liked' them, as, alas, Scooch are no more. I think I should admit I am a big Steps fan. There is nothing so innocent and perfect as a pop tune that dares speak its name. Pop isn't designed to change the world (although some pop can). It's meant to lift your heart, distract your mind from the more mundane realities of life and give you something to hum on the tube. Steps know this and ... Read the complete review

Scooch have just released “Four Sure” their first album. It includes their recent single releases plus some excellent album songs the best of which is “One Of These Days” Other songs of mention are “Zoom” (an excellent cover of a classic song) And “Syncopated Rhythm”. This album makes the heart pump and the feet move. When I listened to this album I just wanted to get up and dance. The other songs on the album are not as good as the ones mentioned, but are still worthy of the album. ... Read the complete review
