... They played very well (some people think they aren't very talented, but I would disagree), and they played a very good selection of old and new music. Right from the outset it was just a great spectacle however as soon as Slipknot hit the stage. Before them Children of Bodom opened the set; Bodom are one of my top bands of all time, but the crowd weren't really up for them, so they were good but nothing special on the day (much better at Download '08). Machine Head followed; they were more the crowd's cup of tea, so th...more

Premium Review Slipknot - Live: Birmingham 7th December 2008, All Hope is Gone! (778 words)

Where was it? Birmingham NIA. This is a great venue, very large 'mosh pit' area, bit stage. No sloping floor which can be nice for short people. Also the floor is very slippery, so you will probably fall over, but people will pick you up so don't let it put you off :D. When? 7th December 2008. This was part of the UK leg of their 'All Hope is Gone' world tour. That is their newest album, a very good album in my opinion, more like Volume 3 than the earlier stuff. What did I think? I have seen many bands live, and these would definitely rank up near the top. Not because they're my favourite band on CD, they certainly ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review And the crowd go wild.......... (971 words)

Slipknot.... Slipknot..... Slipknot..... The oversized black flag with the red ‘S’ logo obscuring the stage starts to move and the fans start to scream. All the way from Des Moines, Iowa, the band voted best in the world at the Kerrang awards last year, walk on stage. Slipknot are nine boiler-suited mask wearing mental lunatics, the fans, or Maggots as they prefer to be known, are not much better..... We were at the concert in Glasgow SECC on 14 February 2002 – which had been postponed from 22 November 2001. We arrived at about 6pm and were at the back of the queue (story of our day really!!) but luckily we spotted friends near the ...  Read the complete review

Many of us had been waiting(and possibly bleeding hehe) for many months for the day when Slipknot would kick off their "Kill The Industry" tour at Glasgow SECC on the 14th Feb 2002. We had queued for hours at the signing at Virgin megastores during the day(official sources suggest 3,000 people turned up for autographs, about 2500 went away disapointed).People had stormed the back of the building and Slipknot's vans were damaged just hours before they were due to go on stage. At 6pm,we began to file past security into the massive hall where Slipknot would play. All kinds of people were there from adults to young kids and the atmosphere was electric. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Wait and bleed (417 words)

Slipknot have been one of most successful very heavy metal bands to make it big internationally, even having degrees of chart success in Britain. What exactly allows them to penetrate the top of the pops chart usually reserved only for the likes of steps and Brittany spears and other such tripe? Maybe it's the way they have marketed themselves. A sceptic might have said they have simply identified what a metal typical metal audiences might want in a band and filled that space. In my opinion they seem very concerned with trying to establish themselves as a band with problems, much in the style as bands like Korn have done. But if you where to argue that what they have ...  Read the complete review

This is my review of the Slipknot concert in Copenhagen, Denmark. I live in Malmo, Sweden, which is a 40 minute ferry ride, or 30 minute train ride from copenhagen. I left my apartment around 5 PM and took the bus to the station. The ticket machines for the train where all constipated, and it took ages b4 I finally got the machine to shit out a ticket. Anyway, i left for copenhagen around 6. I still hadn't seen any Slipknot hoodies anywhere. When i got off the train in copenhagen to switch trains I did see a few goths. When i got to the right platform to take the train that went to the station there where about 5 drunk danish teenagers singing ...  Read the complete review
