Advantages: great music, exciting

Disadvantages: small kids getting squished

Many of us had been waiting(and possibly bleeding hehe) for many months for the day when Slipknot would kick off their "Kill The Industry" tour at Glasgow SECC on the 14th Feb 2002.
We had queued for hours at the signing at Virgin megastores during the day(official sources suggest 3,000 people turned up for autographs, about 2500 went away disapointed).People had stormed the back of the building and Slipknot's vans were damaged just hours before they were due to go on stage.
At 6pm,we began to file past security into the massive hall where Slipknot would play. All kinds of people were there from adults to young kids and the atmosphere was electric.
Things kicked off with InFlames, and to be honest no one really cared.I think this was to do with the fact not many people knew the songs and we were all to excited about seeing Iowa's kick ass 9 piece!
They were followed up by American headCharge who got the floor moving and we're quality.Their on stage antics we're funny and the industrial sound set everyone up for the night!
The band before the 'Knot were One Minute Silence, who attempted to started a circle of death but I felt that the audience by this point only cared about the beloved Slipknot!
After OMS struggled through their set the crowd got more and more excited.
We waited as a Flag with Slipknot's Tribal S unfurled before us and a 9minuted intro tape played.
Then it began....
Intense heat flowed through the crowd as everyone crushed to get nearer to the stage.Huge flames shot up on stage and the band played an awesome 2hour long set.
The highlight of the show for me was when charismatic frontman Corey Taylor made every single person in the room sit on the floor sit down and jump up when he said so in "Spit it out".It was incredible to see all these people sitting there, even the adults who were just their to take care of their kids. The band played all their best songs including the
gothic sounding "Purity" which brought a tear to my eye, lol.Joey's drum solo was amazing as his drum riser span him around like a catherine wheel(although at the aftershow Joey said he hadn't been happy with it).DJ Sid also had a solo spot which I didnt really feel was that much appreciated as it wasn't usual 'Knot style.
The crowd was great responding well to the band and looking after each other if someone fell, and I don't think any major accidents happened that night.
After the show was over everyone filed out, clothes ripped, faces bruised and bodies sweaty but seeming truly satisfied with what they had seen!
I would defineltly go see Slipknot again as they put on a great show which I'll remember forever. If you like to mosh and enjoy good loud music then check out Slipknot when they are next near you!
