Advantages: Less heavily produced then other albums
Disadvantages: Not enough publicity
This album is taken from b-sides and rarities before the Mellon Collie era, It does not include any material from other albums/box sets (including Aeroplane flies high box set as that is only b-sides from Mellon Collie singles). The E.P. itself I feel is the breathing heart and soul of the pumpkins, it puts everything from their first two albums and congeals it all together to bring out some of the rawest and most delicate moments of the pumpkins career. However, it is very much an 'early' pumpkins production, it does not have the 'electronic' sound that is held within the Adore album and isn't as heavilly produced as Machina or Machina II. However, besides from Siamese dream, this is the pumpkins most chilled and relaxed album, so if your looking for something like Siamese dream, then this is the one for you. I think on the putting together of this album, Billy Corgan was a lot more relaxed and let the songs flow, rather then force the songs into undesired directions. This album therefore, I feel is the pumpkins most naturally sounding album with many songs well worth putting the repeat button on for.

- 25/11/00 I seem to be the first to have rated you. I am pretty unfamiliar with the Pumpkins - I only found out who Billy Corgan was after visiting a site to vote for man of the millenium. Billy was winning, ahead of Jesus (It wasn't his millenium anyway) and several other notaries. So I figure his fans must be serious netheads (He had about 15,000 votes). Anyway, you seem to know what you're talking about, good opinion. |
