Mel C has quit, and the Spice Girls are no more – or so we are told by the gossip-hungry tabloid press. To be honest, what does it matter? Before you think this is going to be another opinion slagging them off, it is not. I am a fan and proud of it. But why is it important for them to stay together as a group? As far as I’m concerned, the Spice Girls began as five women, who each now have successful solo careers. They will be around, just in a different guise. Let me start at the beginning – as Julie Andrews said “A very good place to start!” In July 1996, their first single Wannabe hit the British public, and a group of ... Read the complete review

Forever the long awaited third Spice girls album had a disappointing sale, but I think it was most definitely their best effort yet. The album has a completely different sound which is much more grown up and I like every song unlike their previous albums. This album is different from the previous two as all the girls sing individually on every song. 1) – HOLLER – The first single off the album had the best video the spice girls have done and it was all about the four elements of the earth. Earth, fire, wind, and water. Emma being water, Melanie B being fire, Melanie C being earth and Victoria being wind. This song was a double a-side with LET LOVE ... Read the complete review

The Spice Girls do not symbolise girl power, Their image is pure middle aged soho ad agency, a sexual fantasy dreamed up during long cold nights. Now all these years later we have their new single and they symbolise all that is wrong with music, shallow, crass, forgetable, even 'Wannabe' was good pop, but this appalling, it has no effort no engergy and no feel. Pop can be good pop, but in the relentless search for their own artistic merit The Spice Girls seeem to now believe they are artists in their own right, a group of highly talented individuals, I don't believe this is the case. 'Holler' sees them return as a group and they ... Read the complete review

5 nobodys, who should bring inspiration to everyone who has been living through the last 5 years!!! They were just ordinary girls you might see up down or down the shops. Then with a catchy first song in the form of "wannabe" they were sonn no longer "wannabes"!!!! Although it didn't go to number 1 in it's first week, it did eventually manage it. Then followed Say You'll Be There, 2 Become 1 etc.. All were equally excellent, but for some strange reason it all went "STOP"! The critics pointed out that this would be the end (which they have pointed out may times over the years. I personally feel that Stop was one ... Read the complete review

Pop music underwent an awful lot of twists and turns during the past decade. From the early years in which American imports such as New Kids On The Block, Marky Mark and even sprightly pop-rap duo Kriss Kross, only Madonna really stood the test of time and remains even today arguably the world's biggest pop superstar, of which, it must be said, there are few. However, here on the other side of the Atlantic, it took us a good few years to realise the vast moneymaking potential of merely manufacturing a pop group, rather than heaping praise and keeping our fingers crossed for the likes of "natural" bands such as Blur, Oasis and Primal Scream. That ... Read the complete review
