They have upto now have several line up changes. Their first album was original and edgy and no one was doing anything like it at that part - gave them hits like New Year and Overload. Their second album by that point Shiobhan had left and replaced by Heidi. Round Round...more

Premium Review Sugababes in general: Cos I Know How I Feel About You... (1217 words)

Rating:

The Sugababes. More line up changes than a whore has customers. The Sugababes have been around shockingly since 2000 and over the 9 years they've been dominating the charts they've changed styles, gone up and down success wise and much much more. Starting with childhood friends Keisha Buchannen and Mutya Buena and joined by red haired wonder Siobhan Donnaghy, the group released their first single 'Overload' in 2000. There weas something different about the slick and eerie vibe of the record that instantly made them stand out. Here were three girls who weren't obsessed with trying to look glamorous and slutty but just doing their thing so to speak. However the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review They're Babes and There's Three Of Them! (1463 words)

Well, this review is based on The Sugabes' latest album, Three... I have liked The Sugababes since their first single Overload back in 2000. Somehow though, I had never bought a single or album of theirs. Recently, I borrowed Three from a friend and Angels With Dirty Faces from the library. Enjoying both, I bought them from Ebay, paying about £5 for the older album (2002) and around £7 for Three, unsurprisingly their third album. So I thought it would be a good idea to do a review, as it?s been a while since I did a CD. The album starts with the catchy hit single HOLE IN THE HEAD, which was a number one single last year. This is one of those songs ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sugababes in general: Suga Is Sweet  (935 words)
by - written on 14/07/01 (Very useful, 102 readings)
Rating:

(The original op...) The Sugababes comprise of three teenagers, Siobhan, Keisha and Mutya, who met whilst at school in London. They have teamed up with Cameron McVey, (who has been associated with the likes of Neneh Cherry), to create a superior alternative to run of the mill British-but-trying-so-hard-to-act-American RnB wannabes. They are also arguably the finest teen act to come out of Britain for many years, combining sultry vocals with lyrically astute songs that (shock) they actually write themselves. Their record label, London, groomed them carefully before unleashing their first track 'Overload', which reached #6 in the UK Chart. This ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sweet As Sugar...... (640 words)
by - written on 30/04/01 (Very useful, 67 readings)
Rating:

Sugababes. Three girls....of teenage persuasion. Another in the endless procession of female pop acts? Well, yes - and no. You see, they've only gone and released an absolute corker of a single in Run For Cover, the third track to be lifted from their debut album One Touch. The previous two - Overload and New Year - both reached the UK Top 30, but Run For Cover is of a completely different quality. Odds are it won't enjoy significantly improved chart success than either of its predecessors, but in a perfect world (where? where?), it certainly ought to. Upon closer inspection of the sleeve credits, one Cameron McVey crops up as writer and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sugababes in general: Amelle + Mutya + Heidi + Shiobhan + Keisha = Sugababes (347 words)
by - written on 09/02/09 (Very useful, 31 readings)
Rating:

What band could possibly survive three line ups', have seven ''successful albums' except maybe their recent one and be able to consistently sell just under one million records with each album. Sugababes to me are are original and edgy version of Girls Aloud who sing live and sound good live. I prefer Girls Aloud but i can see the appeal of Sugababes because they are edgy and only they could do songs like ''Ugly'', ''Caught In A Moment'', ''Push The Button''. Throughout their career they have many hits in their career including Push The Button, About You Now, Round Round, the brillant Freek Like Me, Girls, Ugly, Caught In A Moment, Overload and about a trillon ...  Read the complete review
