For a brief time in the early 1970’s Marc Bolan and T Rex were by far the biggest thing in pop music. They had hit single after hit single and were probably the artists of the ‘glam-rock’ era who had most credibility. Bolan himself had had some success with John’s Children before forming Tyrannosaurus Rex. Consisting of Bolan and Steve Peregrine Took they played wistful acoustic music with sub-Tolkienesque lyrics. The sound was very basic but unique and promoted by the likes of John Peel they had a cult following in the progressive music market. So last night Donny on tv doing the 70's,will they ever let the 70's rest.But it got me thinking being a 70's child my top 10 bands of that time,i bet you got your own,any way heres 10 i recall. 1.T.REX....Marc Bolan and Micky Finn,i recall buying Hot Love and even bought Get It On before i had even heard the song.What a great group they were,still hear Hot Love and it takes me back to a March night in 1971,then off course July 1971 and the no1 Get it On.We enjoyed that summer of 71 and T Rex help bring it back. 2.GARY GLITTER....Well the Glitter Band,july 71 again and that outstanding song Rock and Roll,just blew us all away,i ...
