T Rex in general

For a brief time in the early 1970’s Marc Bolan and T Rex were by far the biggest thing in pop music. They had hit single after hit single and were probably the artists of the ‘glam-rock’ era who had most credibility. Bolan himself had had some success with John’s Children before forming Tyrannosaurus Rex. Consisting of Bolan and Steve Peregrine Took they played wistful acoustic music with sub-Tolkienesque lyrics. The sound was very basic but unique and promoted by the likes of John Peel they had a cult following in the progressive music market.
