Advantages: Good lyrics, Good beats, Lots of variation in their tracks
Disadvantages: Several releases are hard to find, Music From The Corner vol.1 has too many depressing songs
Task Force comprise of 2 members: Farma G and Chester P. Names that are most likely unfamiliar to all but the select few fans of UK hip hop. It seems almost crazy that such a talented group cannot get commercial airplay in the UK (their own country!!!) however as artists having to struggle seems to have helped them come out with some of the best hip hop tracks I have heard in a long time. Despite being brothers Farma and Chester have very different lyrical deliveries. I cannot begin to descibe these to you but if you are from the UK you will notice the accents are far from those normally heard on top of hip hop beats. What I like about Task Force are that their lyrics mean something because they are talking about events and places in the UK which is refreshing. But, as every hip hop fan knows, you can't have a successful group without decent beats. Task Force's beats are second to none (Farma and Chester tend to produce them themselves but others such as Braintax have been known to produce a few of their beats). My only complaint musically is that they have a tendency to be "depressing" beats if that makes sense. I noticed this on their latest offering - Music From The Corner vol.1 (available on cd only). Personally, I think their finest tracks are those on a not so sombre beat ("cosmic Gypsies", "It's us, we're back"). Lyrically they are direct, clever and at times funny. This combination makes you realize how much underestimated Task Force (and a lot of other UK acts) actually are. For anyone wishing to hear some Task Force their EP - The Voice Of The Great Outdoors is available through their record label's website or in a select few independent record stores. Their CD only albums New Mic Order and Music From The Corner vol.1 both contain moments of genius (the former more so) and can be purchased online. Task Force cannot be underestimated I would adv
ise you to listen to them if purely to see what I have been talking about above!
