Advantages: experienced, quality, charisma
Disadvantages: none
The Dreem Teem have been around since 1996 - Timmy Magic, Mikee B and Spoony. My brother had the "Dreem Teem in Session", a compilation album. Many people say that the Dreem Teem are the godfathers of UK Garage. I wouldn't go that far. The early sound was fas less vocal that what a lot of people would recognise as the UK Garage sound today. But that's probably because the sound (of UK garage) has been changed so much from it's roots in the London underground. Also Timmy and Mikee were originally based in acid house and hardcore sounds. After National radio - Kiss 100, they really hit the big time with Buddy X, a remix of Neneh Cherry. They have been rewarded with a Sunday afternoon show and a harder-edged sound on Sunday nights-Monday mornings. They are great live - at punana - and on air. They have real charisma, if not the natural voice for radio! Mikee's pronouciations of places in the UK are wicked. I've kept up with the Dreem Teem on their Pure Silk compilations - I recommend Pure Silk: The Third Dimension to anyone looking for something to start listening to grass roots 2-step. I wrote this because they will soon be back with a new single - It Ain't Enough. It's a classy, classic 2-step number with strong beats and vocals. Give it a listen.
