But for me "The Velvets" have got that little something extra. I am going to buy all the albums that they did (there are only four). " The Velvet Underground" were one of the most important bands in music history. Not only did they invent avant-garde rock music but also were clever enough not to last very long. "The Velvets" lasted from 1966-1970. In that short time they wrote many classic songs and their influence remains to this very day. I was only introduced to this band recently. In March of this year I went to watch a film at the Cornerhouse in Manchester, the film was "The Royal Tenenbaums" and on the soundtrack were two songs that I could not get out of my head.
