Advantages: Mr and Mrs Nashville, are expecting a Baby in January 2001
Disadvantages: None
Explanatory Note: This opinion is to replace another earlier opinion I submitted way back - when I actually had not ‘gotten into’ either Tim McGraw or his good lady, Faith Hill. If you like what you see here, then perhaps you would like to take a turn around my Faith Hill opinion too? - Thank you. GG ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are expecting their third child in January 2002. Tim and Faith were married in 1996 and already have two girls, Gracie, 3, and Maggie, 2. (I wonder if their new family member will share a birthday with me, in the same was as my sociologist heroine, Ann Oakley?) Things have not always been so sweet for Tim however, as early last year he and some Nashville chums were involved in a slight stramash, when fellow Nashville star, Kenny Chesney rode a police horse in a ‘photo call’ and was mistakenly though to be stealing the beast. A scuffle ensued and as a result Chesney, Tim and others appeared in court to answer charges. Not to worry though as things turned out in their favour, with the jury finding them all not guilty. Tim McGraw, already a Grammy-award winner, has broken records in the USA once again. His latest album has gone straight to number one, an unprecedented feat, as it is his 5th consecutive album to debut at number one on the charts. In the past few years he has sold more than thirteen million albums and four million singles in the USA alone. Tim McGraw himself is quoted as saying, "I was told by one producer to pack up and go home. I would never make it," this - to me - says a lot about the man - that he ignored this particular piece of advice and kept right on truckin’. The first two songs that drew me to Tim were “Don’t Take The Girl” - and the very wonderful “Not A Moment Too Soon”. I can recommend them both (and I think you can still find
them on the Internet - nuf said ) The man has a wonderful voice. It’s as simple as that. Why I did not realise that the first few times I heard him, is something I cannot understand. Then again, maybe it had to do with his first big hit - “Indian Outlaw”, which I thought was * absolutely awful *, - and I’m sorry Tim, I still can not stand it, - it annoys me something rotten! I also do not like his huge hit, “I Like It, I Love It” - but that maybe says something about my tastes in music, rather than Tim’s musical abilities? His album, “A Place In the Sun” saw the release of some of his finest tracks to date, with the ballad co-written by Rodney Crowell, “Please Remember Me” capable of reducing this Glasgow Girl to a trembling jelly every time I hear it. To quote the man yet again - and I do not apologies for doing so - “I am a fan myself. I go to shows, I listen to the radio, I watch other acts. I like to think about what the fans want." Well, as far as I am concerned, when he sings his ballads, he has touched one of this fans ‘buttons’ and no mistake. GG ORIGINAL OPINION You do not have to read this - it was rather poor - but if you insist .... I have just heard Time McGraw's album, "A Place in the Sun" and I am still not a total convert, - but I'm getting there! Being Faith Hill's husband is something for the gossip columns to comment on, sufficient to say that Faith's image has improved somewhat since she got hitched! I have listened to other Tim McGraw tracks, - but I've always preferred Toby Keith among the 'newer' stars of country music. Garth Brooks is still amazing, but Chris Gaines, -P-L-E-A-S-E , No More! pretty please? I digress, Tim McGraw, A Pace in the Sun: Good, but not a patch on any
of Toby Keith's albums. Mind you, if you think that David Gray's amazing vocals are unique, think again, - Tim's had that particular effect to his voice for years now! Best track? No, not the extra track with his missus, For me it's - "My Best Friend", poignant and melodic.

marie084 - 20/08/02 I love him but totally agree that 'Indian Outlaw' is rubbish, it is the worst thing he's ever done, my mom thinks it is similar to Eric Clapton, need I say more..... |
