 ... at the UK chart No.1 spot for five weeks. However, "Heart and Soul" didn't do as well in the UK, it was their debut song, however it did really well in the USA at the No.4 spot in the US singles chart. So the band was recognised first in the US. However, strangely enough, "China in Your Hand" was a flop in the USA. I didn't really know about this band until the 2000's but listening to it, it still somehow manages to remind me about my childhood. Their music has a wholesome and innocent sound in their first album, at least. So no surprise in guessing, i was born in the 80's, and i can just about still remember them as a child. Basically, there's 3 songs of this band i really like, but i could listen to a T'pau album all day in the car or at home, especially their first album, "Bridge of Spies". Those whimsical sounds and that voice coming out of Carole Decker. It's easy-listening rock, and i'm not afraid to admit..well here anyway! Don't push too far, your dreams are china in your hand... T'Pau were a relatively successful 'rock' band which hit the big time in the late 1980's, with successes both in the UK and abroad. Named after a character from Star Trek, they will probably remain most famous for a song about analogising ambition with the fragility of dinner plates. (Or something more profound - it was hard to tell back in those days...) Frontwoman Carol Decker was instantly recognisable by her big red hair, and in her own words, looked like a match.
