I have been in several bands myself over the years, and at times I have thought about maybe setting up a tribute or covers band. However, as my main motivation for being in a band in the first place is to get my own songs heard by as many people as I can, and to communicate myself through my music, I decided not to. I have, however, been to see many tribute bands. They do tend to make a lot of money if they are good and some of the top ones fetch as much as £500 for one gig. I remember several years ago going to see the Bootleg Beatles, who were nowhere near as well known back then as they are now. They were excellent and quickly built up their ... To many people, a tribute band means a poor excuse for young, budding musicians to play other peoples? songs to assorted teenagers from the local town in the hopes of getting a ?you were that guitar guy, weren?t you?? brief sexual encounter. To an extent this is true, but I have a great love and appreciation for talented tribute bands that clearly love the music they are playing. APPRECIATION OR IMITATION? It is very difficult for amateur bands to get signed to a record label, and in most cases it takes an original and appealing group ... Read the complete review

Right for you people out there this is an opinion about a tribute album but I couldnt find the right catagory for it so apologies. "Strait up" is a tribute album to a great man with one of the best voices of our time but his music carrer was tradgically cut short when his car crashed killing James Lynn Strait and his dog "Dobbs". Strait up brings all of Lynns closest friends and collegues together to record the vocal tracks for the music that the band produced before Lynn passed away. The album takes Snots(that was really the bands name)music and the artists wrote and recorded there own lyrics on the tracks to produce a truly amazing ... Read the complete review

I go to a local rock club every week, and I have seen about three different tribute bands of some of my favourite bands ever. I have seen Teen Spirit, the Nirvana tribute band probably more than five times, they are amazingly popular especially with those of us who weren’t into Nirvana when they were still going. I have also seen Sad But True, the tribute to Metallica twice, and Gunz N Rozes as well, most of these nights have been enjoyable and unserious fun! A lot of people seem to be against tribute bands, saying that they rip off the original artists, and should but their skills to a more creative use. Granted, some tribute bands are appalling (memories ... Read the complete review

This op is based on the tribute album that was released last year named "Abbamania" it was an album that was recorded by a mixture of artists. As seen on ITV, "Abbamania" had many of the ABBA hits such as "Voulez Vous" and "Money Money Money". This album is a great tribute to ABBA and is a good album because it helps to build the bridge between the older generations songs such as ABBA tracks and today’s generations. Most of the tracks have been updated in some way. In all the album contains 12 tracks and In my view, it is Steps which deserve the most praise on this album. Their renditions of "Lay all Your Love ... Read the complete review
