Advantages: the next best thing

Disadvantages: not the real thing

I have been in several bands myself over the years, and at times I have thought about maybe setting up a tribute or covers band. However, as my main motivation for being in a band in the first place is to get my own songs heard by as many people as I can, and to communicate myself through my music, I decided not to.

I have, however, been to see many tribute bands. They do tend to make a lot of money if they are good and some of the top ones fetch as much as £500 for one gig.

I remember several years ago going to see the Bootleg Beatles, who were nowhere near as well known back then as they are now. They were excellent and quickly built up their deserved recognition. They were even featured on tv the other night.

The next best tribute band I have been to see are the Booze Brothers, who play quite regularly in my town. Now this was a night to remember. They got proper into the act and swing of things and grabbed the attention of everybody there. Their performance was absolutely outstanding and even all the goths that were present got up on the dancefloor!

Summary: Good Imitations!
