... there it seemed his whole job was to spoof Micheal Jackson). The next rebirth of Weird Al then took place with his video for 'Smells Like Nirvana' a spoof of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. Cobain and the other members of Nirvana had also grown up with Weird Al and liked him so much that they let him have the set and even the same extras that were used in their video. The video is so close (with obvious comical changes) th...more

Ever since his first hit with 'Eat It', the spoof of Micheal Jackson's 'Beat It', Weird Al has been a hero of my generation of Americans. I was about 8 or so when the song came out and I can remember it being the buzz of the playground and the school bus. Every few years since then Weird Al has been putting out an album that spoofs the most popular songs of the inbetween period. I have never failed to laugh at one of his songs. When I was younger I loved such songs as 'I Think I'm A Clone Now' (I Think I'm Alone Now' and 'Fat' ('Bad).' One of the things I really respect about Weird Al is that he keeps ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Weird Al Yankovic in general: Weird, funny and still getting better. (671 words)

Born in Lynwood, California in 1959 Weird Al Yankovic has gone on to become easily one of the most famous people who parody songs. The success of Al means that if you find a website, or look on napster, and find a parody the chances are it will say it is by Al, even if it isn't. While this may mean that he gets the credit for things he hasn't even done (although how people can think a song is by him when it is sung by someone female) it also means that any poor parodies also get blamed on him and may put people off his songs before they have even heard any. Starting originally by submitting songs to Dr Demento while in high school, Al soon ...  Read the complete review

Is it just me, am I the only person who knew nothing of this genius. To think I have been on this planet for 18 years and never heard the work of one great guy, Weird Al Yankovic. As it turns out he has made a whole collection of albums of which I have heard only a small selection. They are: Weird Al Yankovic (1983) In 3-D (1984) Dare to be Stupid (1985) Polka Party (1986) Even Worse (1988) Greatest Hits Vol. 1 (1989) Off the Deep End (1992) Alapalooza (1993) Food Album (1993) Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 (1994) TV Album (1995) Bad Hair Day (1996) Running with Scissors (1999) Although this ...  Read the complete review

Weird Al lives up to his name. As like many other people I downloaded a couple of his tracks just to see what they're like. Weird Al parodys other musicians, changing the lyrics to their songs. The lyrics are well written, and the songs well reproduced. The highlights are: "Pretty Fly for a Rabbi" - Pretty Fly For A White Guy "Addicted to Spuds" - Addicted to Love "Jerry Springer" - One Week (barenaked ladies) "I Can't Watch this" - MC.Hammer U Can't Touch this There are many more tracks to listen to, however I wouldn't buy the CDs straight out. The ...  Read the complete review
