Advantages: well - they keep Ronan employed!

Disadvantages: they keep Ronan employed!

OH MY GOD!!!! Westlife have realeased out YET another cover version of a song that they have COMPLETELY RUINED! How could Ronan Keating actually let the five boys warble their heads off to Billy Joel? Yes I know its for charity and it will so obviously get to number one because so many kids (and grown ups !?!) will want to buy it no matter how bad it is! And besides the single is in aid of Comic Relief so I suppose the nation could do with a laugh watching them perform it (live? maybe not!) on the night's show.

Ronan Keating must be a very clever man - he knows a little goldmine when he sees it. Manages a boy-band (an irsh one at that coincidentaly) that is sooooooo like Boyzone he knows that when Shane, Steve etc and himself get too old for all that teeny bopping his cash flow wont ever be too low!

I've never seen them perform so I cant criticize how talented they actually are (if they are!). But I dont particularly want to see 5 perfect looking men, sitting on five stalls singing dead boring ballads that dont actually mean anything to the people singing them! I want to see NORMAL people dancing their OWN moves and singing their OWN music.

You see music and the music industry is completely different to what it once was years ago. Top of the Pops and the Radio One Charts etc actually meant something to most members of society until the late 90's where the manufactured music came out. Now the charts is a competition between capitalist record companies - all about how much money one can make through airplay/sales etc - rather than the music that musicians have spent ages on writing and performing. It isnt about the music anymore and so now music listeners who dont fall into the crowd and absolutely love Boybands, Britney etc, and the more commercial alternative bands such as Coldplay and Travis lose all interest in whats going on in the COMERCIALISED music industry.

Take for example when Take That came out me and m
y m8tes HATED THEM! And we used to scream our heads off if they got to number one in anger! And we used to dance about happily if they didnt (but they always did! - obviously) Now though we have no interest in the charts whatsoever! Well there isnt much music written to appreciate worthy enough (in commercial eyes!) of being in the charts anymore is there?

And Westlife is not the only boyband I cant stand! I cant stand most of them actually. But Westife just uses and wrecks so much of other individual's music its unbelievable. "More Than A Woman", "I have a Dream", "Private Number" ALL FANTASTIC songs - used by Westlife (I shall say no more!).

I wouldnt despise them as much if they did something of their own (and upbeat) rather than copying someone else's work. Maybe noone wants to write them any music? Maybe they dont want to be original? Maybe they dont want to part with aload of money to hire a songwriter? (who laps up all the royalties!) Or maybe Ronan Keating knows a good thing when he sees it and lets the Irish boyband warble out old tunes that everyone knows and JUST WANT to buy?

I'm just sympathetic towards those little girls who spend their pocket money on what???? Albums with mainly songs that their Mum used to listen to????

I think that the saddest part is, is that their younger fans are growing up hearing songs like 'My Girl' and 'Uptown Girl' and automatically associating them with Westlife, not realizing that it has been done before... and was much better the first time!
