What is your fantasy festival band line up, where would it be and why?

Advantages: brilliant

Disadvantages: umm..... its not going to happen, ever?

My formula for the best ever festival?

For a start, my fantasy festival would be cheap, none of this £90 for the weekend rubbish! Next, I would be there with my best mates and my sister, and we would all have backstage passes, a luxury tent, out own toilets and of course our own Thai/ Chinese/ Mexican food stall, without any queues or exorbitant prices. There would be the excitement of Reading/Leeds, the excellent bands of T in the Park, the weather of (oh i cant remember the name - some sunny place in South Europe) and the pure madness of Glastonbury.

Now to the bands.... of course, plenty of indie/rock, including Supergrass, JJ72, Muse, Beck, Ocean Colour Scene and Placebo. The headliners would have to be Blur and Radiohead, my favourite two bands in the entire world, who I would happily sell vital organs to see.

Blur would sing the entire Greatest Hits selection (minus Country House and of course including Trimm Trabb, MOR and Dan Abnormal), then the whole of Modern Life is Rubbish. Damon would then stagedive (into my arms), leaving Alex to sing Far Out, Graham to sing Coffee and TV (complete with full-size milk carton on the backing monitor) and Dave to drum his little heart out.

Radiohead would sing only three tracks from Kid A (Optimistic, Everything in its Right Place and Motion Picture Soundtrack), then High and Dry, Fake Plastic Trees, Creep, No Surprises and Karma Police.

At 2am, when everyone thinks the last act has finished and is relaxing, David Bowie should wander through the fields as "The Human Jukebox", singing any songs requested (especially Starman, Rebel Rebel, Heroes, Ashes to Ashes, Major Tom, Changes and that under rated Hot Gossip classic, "I lost my heart to a starship trooper".

People would be overcome by the vibe and dance around naked/in fancy dress/in full hippy gear (even without the influence of drugs). There would be a massive bonfire, fireworks, sunshine and p
ossibly Zane Low to introduce the bands. Even Oasis would succumb to the atmosphere and play an excellent set with the original band members, with a set list comprised of their first two albums, b-sides, I am the Walrus and Gas Panic.

Finally, the best thing about my festival is that it would be in the middle of Hyde Park and all traffic would be banned throughout the week long festivities. The last day would not be a sad affair of tent cleaning and depression, but a riotous Notting Hill Carnival style conga through the streets. The police would join in, nobody would be hurt and the world would be a better place.

Well, writing this has made me feel much happier! I hope that it has the same effect for you!
