I wanted Gareth to win, but, am equally pleased Will won. The two boys were the best of the talent on show, and now that it's all over, both of them will undoubtedly make it big. Who will last the longest and be the most popular? Too early to tell, I think.

Remember Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams? Back in 1997, Gary was on the crest of a wave, Robbie in the doldrums. Now? Complete reversal of fortune. Fickle business the music industry. But, for now, Gareth and Will have the music world at their feet, and everything they do is news. They can't fail, for the first year at least. Then, it will require real work to keep on top.

A few number one hits, a best selling album each, then probably a new direction to keep fans interested. New type of music, new fields, much like Robbie Williams and his foray into the music of the 50's.

I would like to see both of them keep their feet firmly on the ground, though. Fame has ruined so many people. What a shame if it does so to these obviously genuinely nice lads. If not, then, all the best to them.

I will probably buy both of their new singles, as 50% of the British population will in the next few weeks, and maybe their album, if it's a good one.

But, as this is about Will, what can I say about him? He seems a good chap. His smile is totally disarming, and who can fail to smile along with him? I think he will be a breath of fresh air to so many people, those who work with him, and those who buy his music. It's great when you come across young people who are unaffected by the shallowness of show business. Who genuinely care, and who want to entertain people for the pleasure of it.
I hope he and Gareth stay that way.

Whatever the case, for now, they are both on top of the world, and that's a nice place to be.
