From the very first time I heard the boy sing I was hooked. That's not to say that it was his first appearance on the show - I just picked up on the Pop Idol craze about half way through - but still - what a singer!

I made a date with the telly each week after that to see, out of curiousity whether it was just me or did he 'do things' to others out there?

It's true that he went off the boil a bit just before the end - I think either the music just wasn't his thing, or more likely he got a bit over confident and didn't try so hard.

I also warmed to Gareth towards the end - and in all honesty thought he was the 'pop idol'. To me Will is another category entirely.

I love his voice and have great hopes for his future music. I won't be buying his first single though as clearly it was written without a clue of who would win and doesn't suit his character. But, I will look him up in a few months when he's got his way and is singing to some rockin' beats that he can really get into.

I voted once, to oust Darius and keep Will in the running, as I thought it hung in the balance. I didn't vote in the final though because to be honest, although Gareth's voice left me cold, I saw him as more 'pop' and worthy of that particular title - so was quite prepared to see he win, with my blessing.

All I ever wanted was for Will to get far enough to be taken seriously and get a recording deal - and he has.

I resent the opinions of some that he didn't need the money as he's from a wealthy background. Would these people really be happy to see him sponge off his folks for the rest of his life?

The way I see it - any parents money is their own and should be an example to their children rather than a free ride.

He's done well, made a name for himself and set himself up - all with a coy embarrassment and modesty that shows he does truly d
eserve his fate.
