For reasons unbeknown even to myself, over the last couple of months I appear to have turned into a complete Wu-Tang Clan obsessive. I've always really liked them and flirted with a mild mania a few years back, when their debut LP 'Enter the 36 Chambers'refused to leave my walkman, but now I'm really hooked. I think it started when my friend and I were in the Virgin Megastore, and I proclaimed that I wanted to buy the Ludacris LP. However, being a bit of a hip-hop puritan and only liking 'music with a message' he informed me that he wouldn't give me a lift back home if I bought it. Not many groups have such an impact on hiphop like this. Wu-Tang Clan did and this is where it all started. The gritiness you feel, the pain you understand and the passion you agree with on this album. The conditions this album was produced in obviously weren't million pound studio's and personally I wouldn't have it any other way. From begining to end it's hardcore hiphop and kung-fu samples placed through out the album have become a Wu-Tang trademark and only add to a great album. If you've never heard of Wu-Tang before and want to experience them I suggest you start with this album. If you don't get a feel for them from this album I ...

Like the title said, What happened to the Wu Tang? The first album was just superb, great rhymes, great flow, everything on it just superb, even now it sounds as fresh as ever. Then it all went wrong, all the off shoots, solo CD's etc. Mainly released (in my opinion) to ride the wave of the hype raised from the original release. Most of these releases were really sub-standard & I reckon, really rushed. So very little thought & imagination went into them. Of course everyone went out & bought them thinking they would be as good as 36 Chambers, I for one did & was not impressed. Then came Wu Tang Forever, 2 CD's with barely 1 CD of decent raps. ...
