I a m writing this while listening to my new wyclef jean album and I can tell you it amazes me each time I listen to it. The different styles of music he has managed to incorporate into this album is so diverse. Ranging from the country and western singer Kenny Rogers to the wrestling superstar, his host of celebrity duets is fantastic. Many people misunderstand his music and think that he’s just another big black gangsta rappa but with this album I think he’s really proved his critics wrong. With all kinds of songs like the funny ‘It doesn’t matter to the ballad ‘911’ it is no surprise that he was picked to host this years MTV ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Wyclef Jean--Inherited Fame (309 words)

I remember Wyclef Jean breaking onto the hip hop scene while playing with the band "The Fugees" With Lauren Hill centerstage, this band could go nowhere but the top. Hill's voice is soulful and as an entertainer she was gifted enough to offset the lack of talent from the other members of the band--particularly Wyclef Jean. Having no other purpose on the album besides sending shout-outs and introductions with his hip Jamaican voice, Wyclef was where he was supposed to be--in the back providing back up. When the Fugees broke up, someone must've convinced Jean that he could entertain and sing on his own. Now we're forced to listen to this ...  Read the complete review

It's easy to forget that the Wyclef Jean we hear now with his often poppy blend of hip-hop is the same man who was 'the one with the dreads' in the Fugees. Wyclef was a rapper with the biggest selling rap group in history, The Fugees, and has also collaborated and produced with a wide range of artists. Born in Haiti bit moving to New York at the age of nine, Wyclef was the son of a preacher. He would later preach about the wrongs of racism and the difficulties of growing up in New York, but Wyclef did his preaching through music. Wyclef the Fugee The 1996 album, The Score, was the Fugees best work and was one of hip-hops most influential ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I'm in love with Wyclef Yo! (176 words)

We love Wyclef Jean. You cannot fault him. His mix of hits including various others make him the most sucessful of all the Fugees. His new song "Perfect Gentleman" is very lively and perfect for the summer . He is a genius. His previous song "911" with Mary J. Blige , was very sucessful and shows his ability to change styles and not make everything sound the same as some hip hop artists do. I find all his songs to be very good and they sometimes make me a bit sad such as "911" and happy such as "Perfect Gentleman" Many DJ's have mixed his songs. Try "Please call 911 for Stan" mixed with ...  Read the complete review
