So of course everyone thinking this was great decided to sign up for it *20,000 people to be a little more exact* So for a long time everyone was happy with there service, but after awhile the Surf Free users noticed that it was getting harder and harder to connect to the internet... what was happening you ask? I don’t get any calls from double glazing companies interrupting my life. Nor from anyone else trying to sell me goods which I haven’t asked for. My number is still listed in the phone book but these annoying calls just don’t happen anymore. Why? Because I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service, and its illegal for anyone to make a direct marketing call to me if I haven’t asked for it. The three alternative telephone providers that I use regularly, OneTel, Telco and First Telecom all offer smartboxes. These gadgets are plugged in between your phone and the wall socket and offer you the convenience of routing all calls via the alternative telephone provider without having to dial the access code before the number you want. But beware. Telco's box is free IF you spend minimum £10/month; First Telecom's is also free IF you spend minimum £10/month with them. OneTel are offering theirs free at the moment and as an incentive will give you 100 minutes of calls when you use it. Been there, done that, got my freebie, or at least my wife did ...
