Ecco - a blister free zone (Ecco)
Member Name: Feathers
Advantages: Comfortable, well-made shoes which will last for ages Disadvantages: A little pricier than other High Street shops
Okay, I admit Ecco is not a name you'd associate with high fashion. I'm supposed to be at an age when I put style before comfort, but I personally don't see what is so stylish about tottering around on shoes which will deform your feet and ruin your back. Ecco is a shoe shop which is probably associated with middle aged horsey types. I love them though. If you are after sexy strappy numbers this is probably not the place to go. If you are after shoes that don't require you to buy ten boxes of blister plasters then get down to your nearest Ecco shop now! I discovered Ecco when looking for some walking boots. They cost me £110, but were the only pair I'd seen all day which were actually comfortable to walk in. I didn't have to break them in at all, it only took about three hours for them to lose their stiffness. I bought the boots three years ago and I am still wearing them. They are a bit faded, but otherwise as good as new. The most impressive thing is that they don't smell at all! I have since bought sandals from them and am just as pleased. You will have to look carefully to pick out the nice shoes from the terminally frumpy numbers, but they are getting more stylish. The sandals are particularly nice. You do need to make sure you ask the shop assistant for care instructions as many of their shoes are made with gore tex which requires special products. Yes, the shoes are a little expensive, but they will last if you take care of them. I personally think it's worth shelling out a few more quid for shoes which won't cripple me. Summary: |
