Advantages: A good morrissons nearby
Disadvantages: You have to travel 5miles to get to a 24hour supermarket
For a city, i feel that the supermarkets in chester are poor. There isnt one big and decent supermarket even close too the city centre.
Ok, we have the tesco's right in the middle of town, Which only stays open till 10pm. I wouldent bother trying to attenmpt to get to this supermarket during the daytime or anytime before half six. Because the traffic around that area is bedlem. The parking isnt even free, Unless you spend a certain amount of money in there.
Quite close to tescos we have a icelands, Again it would be bedlam trying to get to this shop and the parking isnt free unless you spend over a fiver. I think this shop is open till 8pm.
You have a somerfield in the shopping centre by the other side of town, But i wpuldent class this as a main supermarket. Its a perfect shop for your little items after you finish work. Again its only open till 6pm and the parking isnt free either,
One shop that is good, is morrisions, this is open till 10pm and its 2minutes drive outside the city. It has plenty of parking and this supermarket is rater big and has a little cafe aswell.
They do have a 24hour tescos about 5miles outside out of chester in a place called new broughton. This is one of the best supermarkets around chester. I jus feel that its a bit far to go just to get your shopping.
But they have built a new tesco's near the greyhound park, but its not 24hour. Its a smaller tescos, about the same size as the one in town. This offers free parking and theres a aldi behind it.
I feel that Chester has a bad range of supermarkets in the city itself. You have to travel at least 5 to 8 miles to get to a 24hour supermarket.
Summary: Not what you'd call a great selection for a city!
