The most decadent afternoon tea I ever had wasn't in The Ritz or The Savoy - no none of those traditional afternoon tea authorities - but in a jacuzzi on a cruise ship. Only a Thomson one mind you, not P & O or QE2, but absolutely delicious all the same... I probably shouldn't have, but it was one of those afternoons when I was on a cruise and out on the deck - there was nobody about, I'd brought my afternoon tea (consisting of the quintessential cucumber sandwich with crusts removed of course, scone with cream and strawberry jam and cuppa in a pretty white tea cup with saucer) out to my sun lounger on the deck and seeing as nobody seemed to be about to witness if . As my daughter's birthday is in the middle of the week, and we are going out in the evening of the previous Sunday (Neil Diamond is in town!!), she decided that instead of going out for the usual evening meal in a restaurant, we would instead go for Afternoon Tea at the Lanesborough Hotel, located at Hyde Park Corner. She chose this one for 2 reasons. a) because it is close to the underground, so we can quickly get to Earl's Court for Neil Diamond! b) I think she fancied the strawberries and champagne upgrade!
