Advantages: You can't buy most of the advertised merchandise
Disadvantages: Is this what tv was invented for?
You know Christmas is fast approaching when the catchy tune “Whatevva you want….” graces our screens. Besides the fact that this must be the most annoying tune ever played, the advert is unbelievably naff. A variety of tacky merchandise crosses the screen, can you spot which are real and available at a reasonable cost at a local retail outlet and which have been custom made for the advert. I must admit it was a real blow to realise that I could not purchase a set of skiing Santas to complete my window display at home. But that was nothing compared to the realisation that they didn’t sell gold plated necklaces with the word “Argos” emblazoned across. Don’t get me wrong it’s a fine store for many household items at a reasonable cost but why do they insist on their evil advertising campaign.
