Advantages: good quality when it works.

Disadvantages: terrible customer service.

Sky Digital are very good at advetising themselves but when it comes to delivering all those promises, something goes wrong.

We decided to subscribe to Sky a few weeks before Easter. After a failed attempt to subscribe on their website, we phoned in and booked an installation.

The first time engineer came round, the installation did not go through because of technical problems. The second time, Sky made a booking error and we had to spend our day moving all the furniture, lifting floorboards, waiting, phoning, arguing with very rude and unhelpful custumer service reps and eventually having to book a third visit for the week after. The Easter weekend was spent without all those wonderful channels.

The third visit was a week later and all went smoothly. Our complain letter to Sky about the bad service and rudeness of their customer service reps was answered months later with some half hearted apology and £10 "compensation".

Thankfully since then things have gone quite well, apart from the times where the picture vanishes or freezes over witohut warning or when there is no schedule information available.

Now we have more channels than we could ever want (and there still isn't much to see on telly), with a good crisp digital image (when it works) and a funky little rmote control. It is cheaper than cable and digital is probably the way forward, lets just hope that Sky get a grip on themselves and improve their attitude.
