Advantages: Great when its working

Disadvantages: No help when it isnt

Whne i signed up for Sky Digital i was delighted with the service. I had more channels than i needed on just the £14 per month package, great i thought. Then i started to lose the picture for a couple of minutes at a time.
I kept ringing Sky who got me to try various tricks like switching the box off and unplugging etc. Eventually i insisted an engineer called. My wife stayed in to let him in and he told us the cable should have been changed when we changed to digital.
After he left, it started playing up again. Another 2 weeks for another engineer to fix it. This time he correctly diagnosed what was wrong and fixed it. I then phoned them for a refund for all the services i had paid for but not been able to receive. Did i get the runaround. They had hardly logged any of the calls i had made and were unprepared to refund any money for them and offered me £26. i explained to them it was not my fault they had not logged my calls but they refused to budge so i have paid for services i could not receive because they fitted the equipment incorrectly.
If you opt for Sky, the product IS good but don't expect any sort of service thereafter.

I'm still trying to sort out the great Sky keypad fiasco. We were promised one if we reccommended a friend - which we did. (He was also supposed to receive one as well). After 8 months of calling, with no result, Sky customer service went into overdrive and sent us 4. They are now expecting me to pay postage to return them.

You also have to pay for the call the digital box makes every month or so, They say this is supposed to happen in the middle of the night, but I have seen my box trying to call in prime time (in the afternoon). The engineer said this call was free, but we have found out different since from the Sky service desk.
