“ The famous angry chameleon and his scheming ways helped put Budweiser firmly on the UK marketing map. „
Advertising can be a great nuisance, and I often think I would never be affected by it. Companies waste their money because I would never buy something because I saw it advertised on television. However, When in a Nightclub, some friends and I began to shout Wasssssup to each other. Moments later we were drinking Budweiser. This made me think about the now ancient frog adverts which we used to re-enact. Again, after a rendition of Bud-weis-er, I was drinking Bud. I have been fooled. There is no doubt that the advertising Budweiser has produced in recent years has persuaded me to drink their product. I think if extensive research was to be carried out, I would not mind betting that the numerous Budweiser advertising campaigns have been among the most financially successful of all time. I love those ads! I look forward to the commercial breaks - Just sat in front of the TV, watching the ads, having a BUD!!
I suppose it had to happen. Louis the Lizard has learnt to say Wassssup and now he is training the ferret to join in with him. If you haven’t seen the Budweiser adverts then the start of this opinion will not mean anything to you at all. But, that will probably also mean that you have been on another planet for the past few months, so you probably don’t know what Budweiser is either. The ad men at Budweiser have been really clever here. For the past few months they have been running two simultaneous sets of adverts for Budweiser beer, with totally different themes. The first is based on some talking lizards and a not very bright ferret, who have been waging a hate campaign against the frogs in the local swamp. The second set of adverts have been about a group of young friends who all drink Budweiser and have the catch phrase “Wassssup”. This phrase has really caught on throughout the country, to the annoyance of many, many parents. Now these two sets of adverts have been combined it has resulted in a brilliant, very funny advert. A lot of clever adverts sometimes do not manage to get across the product name, but this advert is not only clever, but gets the message across, as they have included the product name in part of the catch phrase – “Having a Bud”. Very Clever.
Forget about the lizard! Can you all remember the crocodile that carried the cute little frogs through the party singing 'ohh laa laa' This in my opinion was a superior piece of advertising! This advert also was the launch of the song ?ohh laa laa? which is still deservedly a wonderful party song! Whenever you go to a pub and order a drink you automatically order a bud, and its incredibly likely that somebody will pretend to be the little frogs!
Louis the lizard is green with envy - the bull-frogs are getting too much of the limelight. Over a series of adverts we see Louis get screwy with his plans to put them in their place (any place it seems but his pond!), they seem to have petered out for the moment - Bud are bombarding us with the 'wassupp' ad at the moment and Louis seems to have disappeared in a puff of smoke/fit of pique. I am hoping this current (pun intended) state of affairs will not last and we will see a further ad with Louis as our Christmas star. (Come back Louis, we love ya!)
The marketing dept. at budweiser have done a fantastic job creating such hilarious memorable adverts. The one where he has the weasel drop an electric sign into the water in an attempt to anniahlate the frogs was simply funny. The quote 'There comes a time when every frog has to croak it' just made the advert one of the best currently on T.V. Then the monosyllabic frogs which croack in sequences to make us remember them. It really is a advertising campaign to the very highest standard.
The simplest way to kill three frogs is apparently to hire a weasel to electrocute them by dropping a neon sign into the pool that they live in. Realistic - no. Funny - oh yes. The premise of the adverts was that a lizard got very upset when the Budweiser company decided to use three frogs in their adverts, rather than Louis. Louis takes great offence to this and goes from complaining about the situation to trying to murder the frogs. The only fault I can see with this advert is that to watch it you need to take time away from drinking Budweiser - which is almost a crime in itself.
Bud-Weis-er. Yes, you know the ad don't you? 3 monosyllabic frogs that form to promote a drink in a cute and sellable way, innocently, while a lizzard and his pal are left bitter in the fact that they're not the main stars, oooh but they are! The series of adverts was pretty cool, it was like a miniature disposable comedy soap opera. The frogs are cool, Louis the lizzard is mighty bitter and Italian Mafia sounding, while his bassy voiced friend is a bit more wiser and laid back. The crocodile and the dumb stoat are indeed cute series additions too. Particularly though, the first ad's music by The Wiseguys is unforgettable and catchy! It's sad that on the second of the series that the frogs get electrocuted, but they return safe and well on the third installment, and you know that they couldn't continue it from there. It ended naturally, and while I don't think it'll be a memorable ad series in the long-term, it's still a good ad, and Budweiser has become much more of a house-hold name than ever.
How I love these adverts, they won't make me buy the product but their advertising will remain in most peoples memory. I never thought I could empathise with a frog but the various ways of doing away with the frogs is nothing short of genius. Whoever thought up the idea in the first place has a warped mind! I look forward to each new advert, it has become a saga not unlike the Gold Blend & Oxo ads, so they must be doing something right. The secret of a good ad is that it will be remembered long after the campaign has ended. In this case the ads will certainly be remembered.
I've kind of got used to Budweiser's old set of adverts, typical American, slapstick nonsense. But with the frogs and their new adverts for Bud Light-they've really hit the nail on the head! The frogs ones were masterpieces, especially continuing it like a kind of story. However, what really makes me laugh are the latest, inspired Bud Light 'contradiction' adverts. The are just so funny! OK, not very original, and typically American, but somehow, they just make me want to laugh! Inspired Budweiser, although it won't make me buy the beer, inspired- and well done!
Like the old Nescafe where people would want to see what happens next in the series, I believe the Budweiser adverts have that same charisma, and will all want to know what Lois does next. Firstly we had frogs that would each say a part of the Budweiser name, but as in life Jealousy is emerged but this time in the pond. And it is Loius the Lizard that is upset that he is not the focus of the attention. And has a plan to kill the frogs off, but it does not work leavinf him still upset. The adverts are really funny and combined with a good tune they can't fail to amuse. The advert does not even show anyone drinking Budweiser, but is great televion that will appeal to anyone. Drinkers or not, anyone should like these ads.
The first advert in this budweiser series and I reckon STILL the best! (I miss it). Although Louis the lizard make the ads still amusing to watch I still feel the original where the frogs are sitting on the aligators' back swaying from side to side to that great tune of 'Ooo la la, la la' was the best. The aligator, with frogs on his back gatecrash a party in an old shack in the swamps. You see them enter, music still playing, then they come out, they have with them a crate of budweiser. Was this the lizards party or did I miss something? And is this why the lizards blew up the frogs in the later ad? Adverts need to be entertaining or we loose interest and take no notice of the product. Adverts that purely get on our nerves work in a different way - we still remember the product but refuse to buy it because of the patheticness of the ad.
Yeah those three frogs initially used to promote Budweiser have now found themselves battling it out with the new lizard on the block, Louis. Budweiser being one of the nicest lagers anyway doesn't really need these really cool ads to promote it because it's already manys favourite anyway. However i think the Bud ads starring the lizard are my favourites and they actually look quite realistic. The idea if you haven't seen them is that frogs were used to advertise Bud and this lizard has got really jealous and wants to kill the frogs so devises with a ferret to drop the pub light sign into the lake to kill the frogs but doesn't run as smoothly as planned and louis gets annoyed. It's really funny to watch and you can relate to it because you can imagine people acting like this and i don't think they could have promoted Bud better. I just want them to continue with the story though. They should make a film i think. I can see it now, everyone in the cinema watching Louis the lizard with either a can or bottle of Bud in their hand. Hahahahaha :)
This is one mean lizard thats cool. I really feel for this guy. At one time I use to think the frogs where cool but soon some desire slowly crept up on me and I too wanted the frogs dead. This add really gets the thumbs up from me and the beer is not bad. I love how they got the lizard to look so real. I dont drink a lot of largers I personaly like bitter but I do find buds got a nice taste and as a first preferance other than bitter I would go for bud. The advert must be one that will stick in people`s minds ask most poeple and they will connect with this advert. I just want more of the story the frogs have got to go.
