First of all I just want to start out by saying that my husband works for this company and has for about 2 years now. Do not get me wrong they are a great company but they have huge downsides. We have the directv employee account where we are only supposed to pay 15 dollars a month for our service. First of all, the receiver: I have had two of these in my home for almost 2 years, although I didn't have a choice at the time, they came with my package I guess.... As tv receivers go, they are good, I get great quality pictures and they are very easy to use - I never really touch them other than to power on/off since the remote won't stay set to DTv - it continually wants to flip back to the tv setting! I contacted Directv about this and all one has to do is remove the batteries, hold the number 1 button down for 10 seconds, reinstall the battery and hey presto, the remote is reset to DTv!!
