Advantages: so bad it's almost good

Disadvantages: does it sell the product ?

Watching this advert you'd be forgiven for thinking that you stumbled across a spoof ad from the Fast Show. This is the sort of thing that Paul Whitehouse would do, in dubbed Spanish with the el presidente.

In reality it's a advert from a timewarp, probably from the mid to late 1970's. A time when after dinner chocs / mints were seen as the height of decadence. Perhaps 20 years ago people were impressed by this sort of thing, but not now.

The Ambassadors party setting has no class, the acting is so melodramatic, the guests so wooden. I expect that this is a foreign advert dubbed into English, it shows.

The Ambassador looks like a 70's porn star, the guests just look bored. Pretty sad when the highlight of the evening is a plate of chocolates.

What sad lives they must lead. But then it makes a change to see a bad advert when nearly all the others are very typecast.

Exactly hooky! Cringeworthy, but yet we still all get at least one box at crimbo don't we. I don't think this is laziness on the part of the marketing department, more of a poke in the ribs at their own tackiness.

The advert works though because we all still know that stupid quote "Monsieur, this Ferrero Roccher is really spoiling us" !
