Advantages: Many more programmes to watch, easy to use , one payment only

Disadvantages: too many programmes to watch if you have teenagers in the house. you could always get them the digi box though for their bedroom.

This is no longer called ITV digital. It is now called Digital Terrestrial Receiver.

Ours is a Goodmans one which costs around £70 but shop around as the price does vary considerably. We did see the same for £100. We got ours from Argos and they were the cheapest around.

Once you have bought the box though that is it. You do not have extra monthly payments.

The first thing to do though when you are thinking of buying a digibox is to see if it is compatable with where you are living. There is a number and www site you can go on and put your post code in to find this out. Now if it says no to your area do not give in. That is what it said about ours. We bought an 18 element aerial and a signal booster - total cost about £30 - and now despite them saying we would not be able to get it we have perfect reception and can pick up all the channels. This is despite us living right on the edge of the transmission area.

Another trick to do is if you know anyone that has this digi box is to borrow theirs to find out if it works. If you can pick up any channels but not all then do as in the paragraph above but if you cannot pick up anything then you would be wasting your money so wait until things improve or go for an alternative.

The digibox is only about one and a half inch deep x 12 x 8" roughly and sits onto of your DVD or video player.

Once all plugged in it is easy to set up. Just follow the instructions that come up on the screen.

They say you can get 30 channels but you can get many many more than that. I have just counted the channels we can get at this moment and it is 53.

You do get a menu pop up no only telling you what is on, when it is on, but also a little about the programme which is on. So that you dont miss anything when you are reading this or finding out if there is something better on another channel, you get a small screen in the right hand corner so you can still watc
h the programme while searching for something else.

You can get your ordinary channels through the digi box as well so you dont have to keep swopping. You will also find that you get a clearer picture.

You can also get digit radio channels.

Why do I like digi box? Well for one thing it has some good music channels, news channels, history channels. If you are a soap fan you can watch any soap that you missed on BBC1 or ITV.

You also get ITV2 which is great (watch Judge Judy!!) and BBC1 - BBC4.

In fact if there is "rubbish" or repeats on "normal" channels you will definately find something to watch on the digi box.
