Advantages: see a lot of channels

Disadvantages: bad information, cost

Digital TV is what we are using right now, I have to say that if we had known what digital TV was like we would not have decided to get it.
We have all the premium channels at the moment and it costs £30 a month, one reason for all the channels is my addiction to football. I have to have sky sports 1, 2 and 3 plus on digital and eurosport.
The reason for all 3 is, I can't bear the thought of missing a good game on one of the channels, so I have to have them all. It's wrong that the football matches are played on different channels, but it does show how damn greedy these media people are. It is us who pay for these fat cat's lifestyles and expensive homes and that should not be allowed, we the people who pay should have more say in what we want to see on the box. That’s the sports done.
Now Subtitles, my wife is deaf and she can only watch and follow a programme if it is subtitled. On digital have come up with a new way of broadcasting subtitles. You turn the subtitles on in your preferences section, meaning you do not need to access teletext and press 888 to view subtitles.
What you do is, put a channel on, if it is subtitled the subtitles come up automatically, sounds good doesn't it? WRONG, ny wife has to wait for a programme to start to see if it is subtitled or not, the ondigital guide does not tell you what is subtitled, so you never know and it is so frustrating when my wife wants to watch a certain film, she sits down and the subtitles do not start.
I phoned ondigital up to complain about this as I think it is discriminating against people who have hearing difficulties, after all they did not ask to have hearing problems. The phone call to ondigital left me feeling angry and mad, the woman on the other end was implying that every single programme on every single channel was subtitled, I told her she had it all wrong but she stuck to her guns. We are now seeking sky through the mini dish, no doubt I will be searching
through dooyoo, to make sure I get the right deal.
If you have hearing problems ask and get information off ondigital BEFORE you sign up.

I very much agree with you because I have a cousin who is partially deaf and not very good at english. And we have on digital too. So she suffers as well.

i've found sky's service better- but i've tried sky's subtitles and they're not too hot either- I couldn't get them to work the other day. I must admit I can see good and bad in sky and ondigital (i've got both). You shall miss some UEFA footie if u change to sky!

One thing i have noticed with Sky TV is that their telephone staff are always very helpful.
