“ Ian Wright, Eric Cantona, David Seaman and Robbie Fowler mixed with the masses on Hackney Marshes to prove that soccer sells sells sells. „
This advert is expensive, clever (in a nasty way) and it's trying to con us. It does not tell us why its yukky products are so ridiculously over-priced. Female workers producing NIKE products in Indonesia get paid 85 pence a day. Some NIKE workers have had to work 15 hour days. Why do NIKE workers get paid STARVATION wages? Where does all NIKE's money go? Well, NIKE spend incredibly vast sums on advertising. Zillions and zillions of dollars. The purpose of the adverts is to con nice people like you and me. Actually NIKE products are not sexy and not cheap. They are naff. Reebok, for example, is sexy; Reebok pays its Indonesian workers much, much higher wages. A US athlete, sickened by NIKE's treatment of its workers, went to Indonesia to see if it was possible to live on 85 pence a day. The athlete (as reported on Sky News) could only afford a little rice and vegetables each day and soon became exhausted and malnourished. So, enjoy the advert, by all means, but, do look at www.caa.org.au/campaigns/nike/ www.saigon.com/~nike/ and help try to persuade NIKE not to starve its workers. Workers in Indonesia who have tried to campaign for higher wages have usually been given rough treatment. One young female campaigner called Marsinah (not a NIKE worker) was kidnapped, raped and murdered.
I love this advert, firstly the song is brilliant, and really suits the style of the advert. Plus the actual advert is cool, where else are you going to see the football greats like Eric Cantana mixing it with normal footballers on a sunday afternoon. The basic setup is that, we are witnessing non-league sunday football matches, side by side. But there is a difference is that Robbie Fowler, oh look Ian Wright, David Seaman, Eric Cantana and even Bruce Groberlar can be spotted. Just playing football which is what they do, but the advert has a great style about it and gels together really well. It fun to watch, and better than many of the programmes it would be in the middle of. so just do it.
I'm not sure if this Nike Mission is the one where a load of famous footballers try to rescue the new Nike football... I think this is an ok advert, but there are a load of cool football tricks some of them do... This adverts features players like Davids, Figo, Cole, Yorke, Nakata and many others... The soundtrack for this advert is very good and the special effects are excellent... This advert just adverises Nike in general and the new football... It is actually quite a good advert, but I don't see the point of it though...
