Advantages: A good advert

OK If you remember these adverts, you will understand what I am talking about, however, if you didn't catch any of them, you will think I am rather Puddled, and you may well be right!

Orange Tango, is a very tangy very fizzy canned drink, and was rather popular, and still is. The advertising campaign for this drink was a little on the wild side to say the least. A character was invented, he was a fat man painted orange, wearing something like a nappy if memory serves. He went around surprising peple by issuing a sharp shock, usually by slapping them on the ears from behind. This was rewound and repeated for the benefit of the viewers, and was accompanied by a running commentary by an unknown Geordie.

The catchphrase at the time was "You know when you've been Tango'd"

I must say that the advertising campaign was a great success, it was certainly the most talked about advert I can remember. The problem of course was that schoolkids started to copy it! This made the company have a rethink, resulting on the adverts being scrapped.

The drink was just the same as it is today, and was popular then, even without this piece of marketing. Tango do other flavours too, and I dare say I would like some of them, but the Orange one is just too tangy for my taste.

If you are asking me if I would recommend this product, I would have to give a resounding YES!
I do appreciate however, that is is not PC for these days.

I do admit that this advert is no longer being shown, and perhaps it should have been withdrawn by Dooyoo, but as it is still on the "Statute books" I am entitled to post my opinion. Please feel free to rate good, bad, or off topic as you wish.
