Advantages: Works quickly, helps you breath again, long lasting

Disadvantages: Strong smell but I guess it has to be in order to work

I have not wrote a review for a couple of days, instead I have been coughing and sneezing and generally feeling unwell! Now before you all ask, it is not Swine Flu but I have got a nasty chest infection. I am finally and slowly getting over it as I have been suffering for over 2 weeks now, I don't think I would have got over it though without my handy tub of vaporub!

When younger I can always remember my mum having a tub of the stuff in the bathroom cabinet, the one we could never reach! When my sister or I would go down with a cold or cough out would come the Vicks and she would rub it on our chests and back before going to sleep. Unfortunately as I have grown older I still suffer with colds and coughs and the odd bit of sinus trouble and the Vicks really is a godsend!

The tub comes in the distinct colours of an aqua green screw-top lid and a blue base. There are very clear instructions of how to use the priduct on the bottle. You are directed to rub a small amount onto the back, chest and throat area. I have been tempted in the past to place it on the bridge of my nose as this is where I feel most congested but there are other Vicks products that will help relieve a blocked nose! The rub is really thick in consistancy and you only need a pea sized amount to rub in.

Instantly the Vicks gets to work and my breathing improves. My nostrils clear and my chest is not left with the wheezing and tightness.

You are best to store the product in a cool place and when not using it always rememeber to replace the lid as it will dry th product and you will lose the smell.

The smell is very strong, I guess it needs to be in order for it to work. Vicks contains eucalyptus oil, white soft paraffin and Camphor amongst others so you can see the product is heavy duty! Camphor is toxic so that is why I recomend that you are careful on where you place the product. It can amke your eyes water at the best of times! And avoid the eye area at all times.

I always tend to keep a tub of the Vapour Rub in stock so it is a while sine I last brought some but I think you can pick up a 100g tub for around £4.00. The product like most things does have a self by date but this is over a 2 year time frame.

In conclusion, I am not sure where I woyuld have been over the past couple of weeks without my Vicks, Or should that be over the years, all I know is that once applied I can breathe again and that has to be a good thing!

Summary: Where would I be without my Vapo Rub!

Glad you are feeling better. Vicks is a good old fashioned remedy and your great-great-great- great grandchildren will still be using it in hundreds of years time - if you get my drift.
