When I have a very chesty cough, as a result of a cold or flu, I find that Vicks Vapour Rub is one of the best treatments that you can get to lift any congestion and make you feel less blocked up, it also gets rid of some aches and pains that are associated with the flu and a heavy cough.

To use Vicks Vapour Rub you simply rub a thick layer of the cream on the chest and/or throat, make sure to keep clothing loose when you have a sore chest and throat and never apply near the mouth or nostrils or on wounded skin. You can apply this rub 3 times within 24 hours.

Vicks Vapour Rub is quite a thick gooey kind of rub, it is clear in colour and smells very strong and like menthol. One of the active ingredients is menthol and you can certainly smell it, this smell doesn't really bother me, though my fiancé and sisters hate it so it must not be for everyone.

I find that the results given from Vicks Vapour Rub are quite quick, you don't have to wait long before your muscles relax a bit and the congestion starts to shift a bit, though I wouldn't say that it works complete wonders, usually when I have a chesty cough and am feeling unwell, it takes a few days before I am back on my feet, even with the help of Vicks Vapour Rub.

I also like to put Vicks Vapour Rub into a bowl with warm water sometimes and let the smell fill the air as I think it gives added relief when I am especially congested.

Vicks Vapour Rub is suitable for children ages 2 and up.

You can buy Vicks Vapour Rub in most chemists and supermarkets for around £4-£5 depending on where you shop, it costs £4.55 in Boots, which is an ok price in my opinion, as a little 100g tub actually lasts me quite a long time, I bought my last tub when I was sick in winter, and it done me plenty of applications, and lasted me throughout a 2 week long cold.

Overall I think that this is a very handy rub, it does make me feel better when I am feeling congested and have a very chesty cough and although it is a little pricey, I think it is worth it. Overall I would give this 4 out of 5 stars because although the smell doesn't bother me, it is very strong and I know lots of people who do not like it.
