Volkswagon 'Lamp post'Newest Review: ... a newspaper whose hiccuping suddenly stops when she sees an advert on one of the pages. These are all successful in highlighting the good prices of Volkswagen cars. However, this one advert in particular is my personal favourite, and just goes to show that subtlety is the best way of making an advert eminently watchable. The advert begins with two men (whose job is to drive around putting up billboard posters) chatting to each other while on their usual rounds. I'm not sure if there are awards given to television adverts, but if there were, I'm pretty sure this series of Volkswagen adverts (that includes this 'lamp post' one) would win something. The basic theme of these adverts is that the price of a Volkswagen car is so competitive that when someone reads an advert stating the price, they become distracted from whatever they were doing, and just stare at the advert. There have been a long series of these television adverts, including a crowd at a tennis match who all stare at a poster instead of following the match, and a woman reading a newspaper whose hiccuping suddenly stops when she sees an advert ...
