Advantages: See op.
Disadvantages: See op.
Malu has gone away for a week, and on her return I have been asked to write an A-Z op, just like her 100th op. celebration one. In the past she has thought up two challenges: 'First Love' and 'My Animal Story, so if you want to join in with the third challenge, simply write an A-Z op. just like I'm doing'. A is for Air Stewardess Well, once I have finished my exams I hope that I will be able to apply for a job as an air stewardess. I have already worked with members of the public in the past, and the thought of travelling and having a job that is slightly different every time, appeals to me a lot. B is for Beal Beal was the secondary school that I went to from Year 7 until the end of my GCSE's in Year 11. I could have stayed on for the sixth form if I had chosen to, but at that stage I felt like change was what I needed. C is for Cosmetics What would I do without my make-up, eh? I'm not the sort who plasters the stuff on, but I do feel sort of 'naked' if I do not wear it. In the mornings I tend to use a foundation of a similar shade to my skin colour, light coloured lipstick or gloss, light bronzy eye shadow and clear mascara. I am also madly into the expensive ranges of Make-up such as FC:UK make-up or Maybelline. D is for DooYoo Where would I be without this site? It seems as if I've been a member for years, when really in fact it's only just been over a year since I joined up. A lot of people I know just come on this site to make a bit of extra cash, but right from the start, this was not my intention. At first, I didn't even know that you could make money on here; it was only when people replied to my op's with messages like 'If you write more detailed information, you will earn more money from more reads'. I like the DooYoo community for the friends that I have made during my time here. E is for Eastenders One
of my favourite soaps, along with Coronation Street - these make up most of my television viewing! Shown on BBC1 at prime time, I enjoy sitting down with a cup of tea and watching the antics of Dot and Jim, along with more recently Peggy and Pat. Some people claim that this soap is very true to life, but I think that it is very fictional. However, some of the scenes do make me laugh, and the sudden endings always keep me hanging on till next time. F is for Friendship Over the past few years I have made a lot of friends both online and in 'real life'. Currently I have four friends who I would class as 'best friends', because we all hang around in a group, and all of them are there when I need them. Stephanie and Sophia are so special to me, that even if we have little arguments, we soon patch things up just as quickly. If I have a problem, I know that they are there to turn to, and hopefully they feel the same way about me. I have known Stephanie ever since the start of Primary School, and it's amazing how we have kept in touch throughout. G is for Gadgets You should see my room - plasma lights, lights in the shape of light bulbs, neon stars, fibre optic lamps and not forgetting the lava and glitter motion lamps! In one corner of my room I have a little water machine for when I get thirsty, and in the other I have a tiny fridge with a couple of bars of chocolate for when I feel peckish. I also have a rotating mirror disco ball hanging from the ceiling in the middle of my room. H is for Halliwell, Geri Geri Halliwell is my idol. I can understand why some people dislike her, and when she was in the spice girls, she was never my favourite. Since splitting from the Spice Girls, she has made a huge success of her solo career and achieved a lot in her life such as becoming a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN and supporting several charities such as one for breast cancer. I is for Internet
I have only been online since 1998, but looking back now, I think to myself, where would I be without this 'new world'. The days when chat rooms were the 'new thing to do on the Internet' spring to mind, and when I got my own personal e-mail address, I was well impressed. Since then so much has changed, web cams, voice conversations - even being able to shop online and join in auctions. You can practically live your life without getting up from your chair - it's incredible! J is for Jokes Some of my favourite comedians include good old Tommy Cooper, Graham Norton, Ali G, Lennie Henry, French and Saunders, Billy Connolly and Victoria Wood. Not only do I like a lot of those comedians style, but also the actual content of the jokes are hilarious. Some examples of Tommy Cooper gags that I found hilarious at the time are: Police arrested two kids yesterday. One was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off. You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said "Parking Fine." So that was nice. I went to Millets and said, "I want to buy a tent." He said "To camp?" I said (butchly) "Sorry, I want to buy a tent." I said, "I also want to buy a caravan." He said "Camper?" I said (camply) "Make your mind up." K is for Kitty About a year ago, I decided to get a kitten, so I rang up all of the pet rescue places to see if they had any. Eventually, I ended up buying one in a pet shop, because all of the pet rescue cats were really old or seemed to be a bit of a tie (needed to be re-trained). As soon as I saw the kitten's face come up to the front of the cage, I immediately fell in love with him. He seemed very playful and had gorgeous white fur with patches of bla
ck. I decided to call him Harvey. L is for Laura Originally, my parents were going to call me Leigh (a name which I personally prefer), but then at last minute they decided that Laura was a better option (grrr). A bit of history...Laura is the feminine form of the Late Latin name 'Laurus', which meant 'laurel'. In Ancient Rome, the leaves of laurel trees were used to create victory garlands. Saint Laura was a 9th-century Spanish nun who was thrown into a vat of molten lead by the Moors. Another famous Laura, was Laura Secord, a Canadian heroine during the War of 1812. M is for Music Although I am a 'Garage Girl', I am not someone who tends to stick to only one music genre. I also enjoy listening to other sorts of music such as techno, trance, pop, rock and indie. Some of my favourite bands include Nirvana and Coldplay. At the moment the tune that is stuck in my head is Jaimeson Feat. Angel Blu - True. N is for Nokia I take my mobile everywhere with me, until recently when I got mugged. Unfortunately Dixon's Coverplan seem to take quite a long time in dealing with my insurance claim, so at the minute I am stuck without a phone. It is only when you do not have your phone, that you realise how much of an essential part in life it has to play. I cannot text my friends and tell them where to meet me; I cannot ring my mum and have a chat to her or ask if she wants any shopping while I'm out... O is for Options I am a very indecisive person who always considers all options thoroughly. I never let a single option go without thought. When I chose my options at the end of Year 9 (for my GCSE subject choices), I put a lot of thought into what subjects I wanted to study. Eventually I decided that German, Geography, Child Development, Sociology and Religious Education would be the ones for me. I am so glad that I chose these because I enjoyed most of the time that I studied th
em. P is for Perfectionist If something is out of place in my house, I begin to stress. I know it sounds silly, but I am one of those 'neat freaks' who cannot stand things not being in order or where they actually belong. I was just like that at school too. If I made a spelling mistake, instead of crossing it out or using tippex, I used to rip the page out of the book and start the whole piece of writing again. Looking back, I think to myself did it really matter? Because I haven't looked at my old school books since, but at the time I would go loopy if my work wasn't presented tidily. Q is for Quality I never settle for anything less than the best, in my opinion. This doesn't mean that I am a snob who would not buy 'own brand products', because I do shop in Tesco's and I do buy some of the Value products - but that is because I sometimes think that they are just as good as the top brands. Quality is very important to me, and if I see something that I love but cannot afford, I will not go for the version down, I'll just try and scrimp and save until I can afford what I like. R is for Religion Ever since starting secondary school, Religious Education was one of my favourite subjects. I enjoyed learning the philosophies of different people such as Sir Thomas Aquinas and his natural law principal. I also liked learning about ethics and the way that cultural views also make a difference to religious points of view. For five years I studied Christianity and Islam, and when in Year 10, I had the choice to study another religion out of Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism and Judaism, I chose to research into Judaism. For my A-Levels, I also continued to study Religious Education because the course entailed mainly philosophy and ethics and was related to more life issues such as euthanasia, abortion and crime. S is for Smiley I am told that I am quite a smiley person, becaus
e even if I am not happy, I still try to cover up the fact by putting on a face that people will assume is cheerful for good reasons, hehe (I'm an actress at heart!). For my holidays every year, I have a tooth gem put on, because it looks wonderful when you smile, particularly if you have a nice tan and white teeth with a diamond on one. T is for Tired Due to a lot of revision and studying, I find that I am constantly tired. When I do try to get to sleep though, it usually takes a book or a hot drink to help me nod off. Only on rare occasions have I taken Kalms (tablets to make you sleep better). One of my favourite places is my bed! U is for United States of America My favourite country in the whole wide world! Soon, I plan to move over there, after I have got settled into a job where I am able to apply for a transfer to America. I don't know why exactly I love it so much, possibly because when I was a little baby, my parents had a lot of American friends and also when we went on holiday one New Year, some American Navy crew looked after me. My room is full of the American Flag - my duvet, pictures, candles etc. I even looked for Stars and Strips wall paper once. V is for Vacations My favourite holiday destination is Majorca. Ever since I was born, I have been to Magaluf, Majorca at least once a year, and I am pleased to be going back again next Thursday for four or five days (quick break). In my life I have been abroad approximately 35 times, to places including Ayia Napa (Cyprus), Ibiza, Malta, Amsterdam and Munich (Germany). My love for travelling ties in with the air stewardess thing. W is for White Gold I don't like normal gold anymore, because the yellowy colour does not go with my skin tone, and silver makes me look too pale. White gold has a different sort of tint to it, it's not as 'cold' as silver, it has more of a pearly glow to it. I also like it because
it is 'classier' and rarer than other metals. X is for Xercise I try to go swimming at least four times a week, usually more when it is the Summer. I once joint a gym, and was told by my mother 'Just because you have signed up, doesn't mean that the weight will start dropping off, if you don't go'. Hehe! I stayed a member for about six months, but soon got fed up with it and decided to leave. Hopefully in the future, I will join a better gym and be able to go with a few friends, to make it much more fun. Y is for Youthful I am pleased to say that there is plenty of life still in me yet. Even when I do get old and grey, I hope that I am still able to be young at heart and relate to modern society. I don't want to be someone who is not aware of their time. Z is for Zen I enjoy life to the max and according to my friend Tom, 'I am the essence of it', bless!
