Pack of 5 Small Pegboards
by jrh2
When I was younger I always used to make different things with Hama beads.
I had loads of different shapes including people, cats, lions, butterflies etc. but the ones I used most were the simple shapes in this pack. The five shapes included are a heart, circle, hexagon, square and star.
Each shape is made from a ... strong white plastic and has small sticky up bits. These are where the hama beads go to keep them in place. They are the only beads which will fit there but there are a wide range to choose from, my favorite beads were always the glittery hama beads.
When the hama beads are placed on the spikes they are about twice the height of the spike. This means that somettimes they can be knocked and you may have to start again. It requires good hand eye coordination and some patience.
When the beads are placed where you wish the board has to be covered with paper and ironed. This was always a job for my mum. When it has been ironed the beads melt a little and therefore stick together. If you iron too much you can melt the board.
The design comes off the board easily and you can then reuse the board again and again. Other than melting some of the spikes the board is still as strong as ever. The shapes are fantastic and very versatile. The heart is my most used, some have been stripy, spotty, and every colour imaginable. The circle is brilliant for faces. The star has been used a lot as well, I used glow in the dark hama beads and put the stars on my ceiling. The square is nice for houses or making letters, you don't have to fill the whole board up. The hexagon is nice to have but I never used it much.
These shapes can be bought for a few pounds at my local toy shop.
They make many different shapes with a bit of imagination. The only problem is where to put them all!o Read the complete review |

Crayola Twistables
by emmad5689
My Mam always bought me and my sister the Crayola range when we were little and now both my Mam and myself always buy them for my daughters. A few weeks ago Sophie was going to stay in the caravan and my Mam had come across a packet of these cheaply in Asda so she bought her them to take with her.
The pencils currently costs ... £2.40 for a packet of 10 or £8 for a case of 32 on Amazon with free delivery and I will be buying Sophie a case for her birthday as they are brilliant.
The pencils come in a strong plastic wallet so you can keep them stored inside when not in use which is great in our house as it makes them easy to keep away from my youngest daughter who would probably break them. The packet has a cardboard inner which is pretty brightly coloured, it's mainly green and yellow which of course is the Crayola colours. It states on the packet that there is no need for sharpening which is fantastic in my opinion as we are always losing pencil sharpeners and then when they do sharpen them the shavings end up everywhere.
Inside the packet you get ten pencils which from the colours on the ends of the pencils are peach, yellow, dark blue, dark green, purple, light blue, red, light green, grey and orange. The pencils are made of plastic but shaped like a pencil with a hole at the end for the inner to come out of, the name of the pencils is written up the side of each one.
To use the pencil you simply hold the little coloured end and twist the rest of the pencil, the inner comes out pretty easily so one twist is enough to get some of the lead out and the lead stays out well and doesn't retract inside the casing. The best thing about these is the colours as they are really striking and bold colours, the colours don't actually completely match the ends of the pencils and in fact the peach one is actually brown and the grey one is actually black.
These pencils are great, they can stay in the packet so they are easy to transport, they are easy to use and the lead doesn't wear down too quickly and the colours are really lovely much better than normal pencils. Considering these don't cost much more than a normal packet of Crayola pencils I would go for these everytime for my eldest however I won't let my 2 year old use them as I know she will end up twisting them all the way out and breaking them. 5 stars from us and I plan to buy the bigger pack for a better colour range. Great quality, great colours, decent price Read the complete review |

Peppa Pig Carry Along Colouring Set
by littleminnie
On a family trip to our local steam railway to meet Peppa Pig and George, I picked up this little carry along colouring set to keep my 16 month old toddler occupied for a few minutes here and there whilst on the train.
The colouring pad contains around 50 little colouring and activity pages all with the Peppa pig and friends ... theme to them along with 6 little wax crayons in a pouch at the back of the book. It also has a little carry handle so your toddler can carry it around with them, but when they've had enough its small and compact enough to just pop in your handbag/changing bag and not take up a lot of room.
I actually purchased mine from the railway station shop for £1.99, but I have since seen these available to buy on amazon and play.com for around the same price, but I also noticed in the other review that they can be picked up from pound shops (bargain!). I would defiantly recommend them for stocking fillers or small gifts not only just a handbag boardem buster.
I was really surprised at the quality if them for the price, the pictures are printed on lovely white paper, not the recycled greyish stuff, and the wax crayons work surprisingly well. You sometimes expect them to be cheap and have to press down quite hard to even get the colour on the paper but not with these. My toddler managed to scribble all over the paper without too much effort at all.
I really am pleased with this product and would consider buying it again. Read the complete review |
