Crayola Twistables
by emmad5689
My Mam always bought me and my sister the Crayola range when we were little and now both my Mam and myself always buy them for my daughters. A few weeks ago Sophie was going to stay in the caravan and my Mam had come across a packet of these cheaply in Asda so she bought her them to take with her.
The pencils currently costs ... £2.40 for a packet of 10 or £8 for a case of 32 on Amazon with free delivery and I will be buying Sophie a case for her birthday as they are brilliant.
The pencils come in a strong plastic wallet so you can keep them stored inside when not in use which is great in our house as it makes them easy to keep away from my youngest daughter who would probably break them. The packet has a cardboard inner which is pretty brightly coloured, it's mainly green and yellow which of course is the Crayola colours. It states on the packet that there is no need for sharpening which is fantastic in my opinion as we are always losing pencil sharpeners and then when they do sharpen them the shavings end up everywhere.
Inside the packet you get ten pencils which from the colours on the ends of the pencils are peach, yellow, dark blue, dark green, purple, light blue, red, light green, grey and orange. The pencils are made of plastic but shaped like a pencil with a hole at the end for the inner to come out of, the name of the pencils is written up the side of each one.
To use the pencil you simply hold the little coloured end and twist the rest of the pencil, the inner comes out pretty easily so one twist is enough to get some of the lead out and the lead stays out well and doesn't retract inside the casing. The best thing about these is the colours as they are really striking and bold colours, the colours don't actually completely match the ends of the pencils and in fact the peach one is actually brown and the grey one is actually black.
These pencils are great, they can stay in the packet so they are easy to transport, they are easy to use and the lead doesn't wear down too quickly and the colours are really lovely much better than normal pencils. Considering these don't cost much more than a normal packet of Crayola pencils I would go for these everytime for my eldest however I won't let my 2 year old use them as I know she will end up twisting them all the way out and breaking them. 5 stars from us and I plan to buy the bigger pack for a better colour range. Great quality, great colours, decent price Read the complete review |

Crayola Doodle Daisy
by Whizz11
I used to love Spirograph toys and being able to make fun and intricate drawings when I was younger and so when my little girl received this Crayola Doodle Daisy a year or so ago I was quite excited to start making fun pictures with her but unfortunately, this toy is a nice idea in concept but in practise it doesn't really work for ... us.
Firstly, let me explain what a Crayola Doodle Daisy is? It is basically a plastic caterpillar looking creature with lots of legs and some funny looking arms/legs at the front. It's actually a bit hard to describe, you really need to look at the picture to get an image of it. The idea behind it is that you put a pen into the arms of Doodle Daisy, select a pattern that you want it to draw on the underneath of Daisy and then watch her go. It's quite easy to set up and the fun thing is that there are five holes on her arms into which you can put a pen so you can do all five at once if you wish. On the underneath of Daisy there is a dial which you turn which obviously sets the angle of the pens and the drawing as apparently there are over 100 drawings you can make.
Its quite easy to set up and once you do all that you just set her in the middle of some paper and watch her go. I think my problem with it is that to a three year old there is not much here for her to do and she wants to grab at the pens or the Daisy herself and make the drawing herself, not have to watch a little creepy crawly do it for her. I do think this toy would be much suited to someone 6 or 7 plus and not the 3 years plus that Crayloa recommend it from.
There are some fun parts to Daisy that we have played with. Her head actually comes off, its a bit scary looking actually but then slots and twists back on. Daisy is wearing a plastic hat that is actually a stencil and has eight little shapes around the edge of it such as a heart, a star, a cross and a triangle. The hat comes off and so you can place the stencil on a piece of paper and draw the shapes with a pen. Daisy is also wearing little plastic white boots on all six of her legs. These pull off quite easily, they are sort of rubberised and on the bottom have a shape so you can use these boots as a stamp. The shapes include a butterfly, swirls and hearts and we just put some paint over the boot and then print onto a piece of paper. It makes a nice clean shape as the image is slightly raised on the bottom of the boot and then they clean off really easily too.
A fun toy but one that I think should be aimed at kids a lot older than three plus. Read the complete review |

Crayola Glitter Crayons
by StazKilly
Just reading a few reviews of see crayons here on ciao and they seem to be highly rated :/
My experience is a bit different. I'm sure you've all heard of Crayola, who are a popular brand of arts and crafts accessories and games, most famously coloured pens, pencils and crayons.
I bought these for my daughter at ... Christmas as she likes colouring and glittery things, so I thought they'd be an ideal stocking filler.
There are 16 crayons in the pack. The colours are basic colours you usually get in a pack this size, blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, white, grey, black and lighter or darker shades of each. They are the small thin crayons, so not suitable for heavy handed kids as they would snap very easily.
To look at the crayons, they do glisten a tiny bit, and you can see they contain glitter, but when used on paper to colour in, they are just not glittery at all. They were advertised to add sparkle to a picture but, this is not the case. Don't get me wrong I wasn't expecting loads and loads but I mean a bit would have sufficed!
They colour really well like any other crayon and the colours go onto paper perfectly fine, but you wouldn't know they were glitter crayons at all. You can see a tiny spot here and there on large bits such as sky and grass but other than that, nothing.
I wouldn't recommend these, especially for the price of them. You're paying for the fact that they are glitter, but you are basically wasting your money. I am glad I used a bit of a DooYoo amazon voucher for these, and never paid the £3.50 they are in the shops. Read the complete review |
