Letraset Promarker
by turkfox I've been using these markers for several years. They create a nice inked look and come in a vast range of colours. They're easy to use and cost-effective for beginners or people who might not want to splash out on a very expensive brand on a hobby straight away. There are a few small issues but nothing that can't be dealt ... with through practise: - the colours don't always match up exactly with the outer casing of the pen so I have to keep a test sheet to hand to avoid using certain wrong colours. - they tends to bleed very easily so it takes a bit of getting used to how close you can get to edges. They also don't create the smooth look as easily as other brands so you can sometimes find definite strokes that can be tricky to blend afterwards without darkening the colour. - they're double-ended and one end usually runs out before the other even if you use both equally, so it can be hard to decide when to replace the current one. Letraset Promarker
by Sarawh I have around 30 of these pens in a variety of colours. One thing I like about the Promarker range is that you are not limited to basic colours, rather much like other brands of pens. Although there is not quite as much selection as Letraset's Tria line, they are a great place to start if you are new to the world of inking. ... The pens are chunky and easy to hold, with a cap either end to cover the twin tips. One side features a large chisel-like nib, which is perfect for block colouring and filling out large areas. The other side has a smaller, more traditional pen nib which is round and comes to a point. This end is great for smaller details and colouring smaller areas. The colour consistency is good, and when used on clean paper comes out vibrant and smooth. The only problem I have with the colour is that it has a tendency to 'bleed', and is better suited for use on special bleed-proof paper. (You can buy pads of this cheaply from Letraset too.) However I have used them on other materials such as cardboard and wood, and have had good results. (Although I would recommend sticking to paper so as not to damage the nibs!) They create a professional finish, and on numerous occasions I have been asked if the work I have created with these pens was done on a computer! In the 3 years I have had these only 2 have become dry and run out. Go out and buy yourself some! Read the complete review |

Letraset Promarker
by freud I've always loved colouring books, crayons, felt tips etc so here I am, aged 58, still colouring in as I make a lot of greetings cards and love to craft! I have stashed away my felt tips, gel pens and crayons now though because of these Promarker pens the reults of which seem to transform what could be viewed at an amateurish ... and home-made project look more of a professional, hand-made one. They are basically alcohol based permanent ink pens which at first glance just look like ordinary felt tips but do not be deceived! They were originally marketed for graphic designers but are now much more readily available and can be bought online or at Hobbycraft and other craft/art shops. They vary in price from around £1.40 - £2 each or can be bought in sets. I often look on eBay but the cheapest price I have seen them is Amazon where a set of 12 costs around £12.55. One end of the Promarker has a very fine end which is brilliant for finely detailed work whilst the other end is flat and chiselled. The ink flows easily and smoothly and there is no clumping, smudging or blotching. I find that I can use them immediately because there is no need to 'get them going' before using on paper or card. They are well designed and comfortable to use (unlike some I've used) but the best thing of all is the results that can be achieved. You can layer up the same colour without having that awful stripey effect or blend colours together without the colours bleeding into each other. There are 148 colours to choose from which vary from white to skin tones, pastels through to vibrant and deep shades and finally a true jet black so I am sure that Letraset have catered for everyone in their range! I've been using the same set of pens for the last 2 years and they are still going strong although I use them 3 or 4 times a week. They have not dried up nor lost their intensity and the ends work as well as the day I bought them so even if they sound expensive you certainly get your money's worth. I cannot fault these Promarker pens and would recommend them to everyone who likes art and craft. Just a bit of advice though - do not let young children use them as they are too special :) Read the complete review |
