Play Doh Fun Factory Spin N Store
by womble1985
I couldn't wait until my son was old enough to play with Play-Doh as I loved it as a child. We bought him the fun factory for Christmas when he was 20 months old. We chose this as many Play-Doh toys are aimed at older children and are more complex to use, and as this was very simple we thought it would be great to start ... with.
In the pack you get the fun factory machine, 2 small pots of Play-Doh and a plastic cutting knife.
It works by taking some Play-Doh and lifting up the purple lever, pushing the Play-Doh in to the hole and then pushing the lever all the way back down. The Play-Doh is squeezed out forming your chosen shape, you can then use the knife to chop it off. The shape is selected by spinning a wheel on the front. There are several to choose from and they make for example star and triangle shapes as well as long spaghetti shapes.
Under the lever are also 3 shapes you can press the Play-Doh in to, as well as patterns on the top of it that you can press the Play-Doh on to create patterns on it.
There is a cut out on the spinning wheel that allows you to open it and inside is enough room to store the knife and a tub of Play-Doh. It also allows for easier cleaning.
It is relatively easy to clean but does take a few minutes, and if you don't want to get your colours mixed up you have to clean it properly before putting another colour in it.
My son got the hang of this very quickly and its simple to use. It provides hours of fun and was a fantastic price (£5 from Amazon). It is good quality and the tubs of Play-Doh last a long time too. Read the complete review |

Play Doh Ice Cream Shoppe
by Wayne7658
This Play-doh set i bought for my daughter as a christmas stocking filler. It was advertised during one of the million Peppa Pig breaks and brought to my attention by the often heard plea of "Daddy I want one!" Sharply followed by "You will have to be good and see what santa brings." My daughter was behaved in her ... own way and low an behold Santa came up with the goods, along with at least another five childrens worth of presents.
The setting up of the ice cream shop is relatively easy, luckily. However the plastic parts that clip in allow for no errors and could easily be chipped. The instructions are straight forward and are sufficent.
The Play-Doh supplied is more than enough for the shop and the accessories provided such as the ice cream cones are efficient to make a few ice creams and allow for the dreaded mixed tubs of Play-Dog once finished. The set is fun and does offer a good value for fun created.
The downside to the Play-Doh set is the ice cream hand pump, which is fitted upon set up. The idea of the hand pump is:
Plastic ice cream cone placed at the bottom of the hand pump
Hand pump is raised revealing an hole
Play-Doh is pushed into this hole
*Hand pump depressed*
Play-Doh pushed through the pump
Giving the end effect of a nicely swirled ice cream, dropping into the plastic cone
Simple, i think not. Now depressing the hand pump takes about 13 stone of controlled aggression. My daughter could not and still can't do thid element of the shop.
First attempt i flipped the whole ice cream shop off the table, much to my daughters amusement.
Second attempt i held one hand on the base of the shop then depressed, an ice cream was made.
In summary, it is fun and my daughter does love it, but cant really use all the ice cream shop unsupervised. The unpractical element to the set is an annoyance and could be a factor for not buying. I would still buy it again even knowing what i do, because fun can still be had. Read the complete review |

Play Doh Fun Factory Spin N Store
by mikeb2102
Looking around for stocking fillers for my daughter was relatively easy, she plays with Play-Doh a lot and I know you can get some quite cheap bits to help encourage her arty side. I spotted this little device relatively cheaply and Lily had played with it at a friends house, so I knew she was going to love this.
== What is ... it? ==
The Play-Doh Fun Factory is a device that enables you to make different shapes with Play-Doh. On the top of the machine is a lever, and on the front of the machine is an orange dial with eight different shapes to choose from; cross, bat(it looks a little like the batman symbol), star, triangle, a weird square looking shape, what looks like a back to front number 3, a shape that enables you to split the Play-Doh through the middle for a tagliatelle type effect, and a shape that enables you to make something similar to spaghetti. You also get a little 2 small fun sized pots of Play-Doh (colours vary) and a plastic knife, which is good as the Play-Doh does get stuck in the little holes and can be a right pain to clean.
== How do you use it? ==
Your child lifts up the lever and packs the Play-Doh into the hole, then you turn the dial to the desired shape you require. Upon pressing the lever, the Play-Doh comes out in a sausage type shape with the shape chosen on the dial running through it. Make sure you clean this when your child has finished, the machine doesn't like hard Play-Doh and when you hear your childs cries of "I can't do it Daddy" and you press the lever as hard as you can, the lever has a tendency to come off. To clean the machine, you turn the dial to the little lip, this will then allow you to open a door behind the dial, giving you access to the front of the machine where the Play-Doh comes out, you can then go in there and clean all the excess Play-Doh with the plastic knife (I only figured this out when writing this review, after the lever incident. there are no instructions with the machine on how to clean it.).
== Price ==
I paid £9.99 for this from amazon.co.uk including delivery, and for what you actually get in this pack, it's not a bad price at all
== Verdict ==
I love Play-Doh it is great to help with your kids creativity and fine motor skills and having the dial you have to turn and the lever you have to press on this machine is even better. Out of all the little Play-Doh tools and gadgets Lily has for molding and cutting, this is the one she seems to get out the most. I think it's because of the wide variety of shapes you can make with it. I like the fact that they give you a couple of starter pots and a separate little tool, that was a nice little bonus. Now that I have figured out how to clean the machine properly, I love this thing even more than I already did. This is definitely a great addition to the Play-Doh range and your child won't be disappointed. Lily uses this with her Play-Doh lolly sticks to make different shaped lollies, the possibilities are endless! Read the complete review |
