Advantages: A good idea

Disadvantages: The clay should be softer for newborn babys hands and feet; Cracks when the clay dries

When my mum had my little sister I brought her one of these Baby Art Magix Box kits, I actually brought 2 because the week after my mate had her little boy and I thought this would be perfect for both new mums.

The idea of it is that you press your babys hand or foot into the clay and let it set, giving you a memory of the smallness of your baby that is supposed to last forever. The kit looked BRILL on the box and my poor sister wasn't even 5 days old before I was getting her into weird positions so I could get a footprint off her!

It's a shame it's not as good in real life, for something that is supposed to be so special this is really disappointing and I would NEVER recommend anyone buy this as the main memory of your baby..... yeah, it's good as a little activity but it doesn't last very well over time so I'd deffo back this up with something else to remind you of your kids when they were babies.

The kit isn't as easy to use as it looks. For a start the clay is quite hard. I remember trying to get an imprint of my sisters foot and being scared I was going to hurt her because of how hard I was having to press. Because of that it means the imprint didn't come as deep as it shows on the photo Dooyoo have got up, my mate had exactly the same problem as well even though she left hers until her little boy was about 3 months old. It wasn't possible to press my sisters foot in hard enough to get a proper impression and even though you can tell it's a foot the toes aren't shown very good.

After you've made the impression there's a powdery talc that you have to sprinkle over the clay, I don't know if that helps it to set or what but it made the impressions look a bit messy because it shows up dead white against the clay.

You can use the space left in the clay to scrape out your baby's name and date of birth, the only problem is that there is nothing included in the box to do this so I ended up using a cocktail stick and that made my usually neat writing look scrappy and a bit of a mess.

I wasn't insulted when my mum decided not to display this because it actually looks mega tacky when it's done. It comes with a little plastic stand that was already broken when we opened the kit so we never used that and my mum ended up putting the clay foot impression in her box of memories that she keeps for all of us. I have just taken it out to have a look to refresh my memory for writing this review and now after 2 years it looks a proper mess.

The clay has cracked and one of the cracks is very deep and goes right the way through my sisters foot impression, no way would I want that on display and I think it's disgusting that this company are making such a shoddy thing and then selling it to commemorate such an important thing in your babys life.

Not recommended.... a waste of money and VERY disappointing.

Summary: This Is Rubbish!
